The entire thing can be summarized as a big popularity contest. Because of the betting system in place and the fact that you can see the vote counts, you’re not even encouraged to vote actual good games like HELLMET, and instead will just vote the ones that are complete garbage because they’re the highest and you will get some crappy accessory. Certain “games” like sols rng are actually BRIBING their player base by basically saying “if we win we will give you free shit”, which is just a massive spit in the face to other developers that don’t really want to resort to that kind of things.

requires strategy and you see people sticking into just one LUCILE strategy and spamming in chat "NEED P1/P2/P3 FOR LUCILE STRAT" for an easy farm especially in hardcore. No brain required there just the timing and the exact placement and that's it. Same towers all over again just because they are mandatory for this specific strat.. yes requires brain.. I agree with that only on those two I mentioned.

saw sols rng in there and prayed eclipse didn't make a video. when i saw "Roblox's Innovation Awards" i looked down to the floor and sighed as i proceeded to watch the video.

hey eclipse as an avid tower defense simulator player, i wanna say its not like most of the other tower defense games where you gamble for units. the only gambling in the game is skins, and specific one-time usable abilities (which, you can also get for in-game currency, so it's not really p2w or anything) and they aren't necessary to win, just make your life slightly easier. all of the units you can purchase for actually playing the game with in-game currencies that can be obtained via just playing, with none of them necessarily being locked behind gambling. some are locked behind robux (old event towers that were previously free, from, as you can assume, events) but there's no rng involved and you just buy the tower . thanks for listening to my tds rant

What makes 5:37 even worse is the fact that anime defenders is literally just an alt farming game which is why the player count is so big

Basically you just happen to like these types of games so u think it's "good" which is fine. But when criticizing games, you have to look at them objectively. Is the game good for what it is? in this case, a battle grounds game where you fight free for all. And the answer is NO. If the winning conditions for a game is "whoever lands a hit first and does combo" then the combat system is already heavily flawed basically just copied blox fruits. There are a lot of battleground games out there which actually require dodging, timing parries, etc. in the middle of fights rather than just accepting ur fate just cuz you get comboed and can't move. Sure the other games have comboes too but it's not braindeadly easy as memorizing 1 one shot combo and then winning the game 💀. Same reasons why project smash is considered better than the strongest battleground and more.

Wow I'm really happy that Eclipse didn't overreact due to Sol's RNG being in the voting (he didn't, he had the correct reaction).

Dungeon quest being nominated is actually kinda horrid. That game is literally just the same formulaic “Do this dungeon over and over and over again to level up so you can go to the next dungeon and do that one over and over and over again.” It’s a grind > quality game.

i used to enjoy the game since it had a simple charm to it. after it got bought out by a game studio its just a standard styled slop game with virtually recycled assets and shitty gameplay.

the moment i saw sol's rng in the innovation awards i realized its not even worth trying to make a game on roblox anymore, especially if its a passion project.

Gotta like just for the soul you put into that scream for Sol's RNG. Kind of reminds me of AVGN.

Roblox innovation awards is literally just a popularity contest between good games with actual quality (deepwoken for example) and crappy p2w games with a player base filled with braindead toddlers that has the quality of an arcade game from the 1800’s (bloxfruit)

One of the saddest things about this is that actually good and innovative games (Noobs in combat, phighting, to name a few) are not mentioned at all, despite this being the “innovation” awards. Noobs in combat is one of the most unique games on roblox with HOURS upon HOURS of fun and engaging campaigns, and that’s excluding the custom maps the community makes and the pvp gamemode. Noobs in combat deserves to be in the best strategy category AT LEAST as it actually innovates, unlike a lot of the games actually nominated that’re more or less just another version of a game that’s been made numerous times already.

Sols rng rage was making me breakdancing while crying

For strategy games there’s two with barely any players but I think they’re good, or at least good concept. Medieval RTS is an rts game with wizards and knights and stuff like that, they have a bunch of game modes and it’s very very fun with friends. The other one is made by a single person, Warlords. It’s a war game with around 8 maps, all point capture or death match. You’re basically a general of an ancient army like mongol calvary, Aztec warriors, polish hussars, and like 20+ more. The concept of the game and (when it works) is very fun and engaging. The only problem with the game is low low player count and overall quality considering it was made by one person.

Man, this whole thing is such a dumpster fire, that i outright stopped voting after the 2nd nomenees. The entire event is "vote the most well known game!!" for some outright GARBAGE items that no one in their mother will use. Tying up rewards on the actual voting breaks the entire point of an AWARD ceremony. Also, hot topic, but why are there old games in here?? Tower of hell hasn't received any major update...like...2 million years ago. Arsenal only had roblox events, and i think no one is shocked to see Adopt Me in here again. What is the point in 'innovating' in game development, if we're just going to let the same games take over the lead? (now, i know that not all winners are old games, but still) Plus, if Sol's rng wins, i bet that it will be either dead silent, booing or clapping in emotional pain. Like...REALLY? Showing the NON GAME OF THE YEAR at RDC??? Who's idea was this?! Tho, i have to say, if Sol's loses, it will be the biggest relief at RDC lol.

@Eclipse the new “innovation awards” I knew was going to fail from the start. Roblox did not pick the games people did. A while back Roblox posted the category’s for the games and people would send a link of the game, and what ever 4 games popped up the most were selected. So you can already put 2 and 2 together and see how that can go wrong. Honestly surprised blox fruits was not in every category since the army of 3 year olds love that game so much😂

There is good combat and there is even a pvp in guts and blackpowder but its combat system doesn’t really compete to fighting games
