April is a bit of a slow month when it comes to game releases and thus I looked up some interesting fan games of beloved properties and came across this Roblox version of Poppy Playtime.
Its a retelling of the existing three chapters and you can either tackle the chapters alone or with 3 friends. The first thing that struck me with this is how they nailed the tone and feel of the game. Chapter 2 lacks a bit of detail when it comes to wall decoration and props, but both chapter 1 and chapter 3 were very reminiscnet of the vibe of the original game.
Of course its not as polished as the originals and it has no voice lines, but I actually got caught by a few jumpscares here and there. The puzzles are still there, albeit in a simpler version. I was surprised to find that the green hand and the purple hand worked so well in this version.
Its great that people can get a taste of the beloved games and play them together with friends. It makes me wonder if any other fan games of beloved properties are really good on Roblox. Maybe I will archive them too someday!
