Robin Wright Talks About Kevin Spacey On TODAY: ‘I Didn’t Know The Man’ | TODAY

In an exclusive interview, “House of Cards” star Robin Wright talks about former co-star Kevin Spacey for the first time since the actor was fired from the show after being accused of sexual assault, allegations he has denied. “We were co-workers, we never socialized outside of work,” Wright told Savannah Guthrie. “I didn’t know the man.” Wright also talks about the changes in Hollywood since the #MeToo movement started.

Trust me mate, so would you if you were in her position. When you weigh the pros and cons of honesty and integrity against financial security and success, the latter usually takes precedence. Even you wouldn't be so naive as to throw away your multi million dollar career and risk becoming a 'has been" or blackballed actor/singer etc. Just to be a hero of honesty who will be forgotten about in a matter of months. No one will remember or care about your noble act months to years from now. Best to play it safe, and assume ignorance.

Anthony testified that "he had a party in his apartment, I was in his bedroom and he came stumbling in through the door drunk". The problem? Said apartment had an open studio layout. No bedroom, no doorway. He had even discussed with a friend of his about purposefully lying about the dates so it'd be more difficult for Spacey to remember it correctly. It was all a massive sham.

I live half way across the world without any connection to USA and even I read rumors about people like Kevin Spacey or Harvey Weinstein. Also, many in the film industry have come out that they knew for years, but they couldn't do anything because they had no evidence and even if they did, the wrong doers were too powerful with very high connections and they feared for their lives and careers. But to claim afterwords that you had absolutely no idea, I'm sorry, I don't believe it. I would have been afraid too, but I would have issues to work with people I heard really awful things about. They didn't. They went right on selling their souls for the sake of money and fame, there's no way around this.

Both of them had multiple accusers from their places of employment, and there is even a tape of Matt being inappropriate to Meredith Vieira on set. Those men got away with what they were doing for so long, and probably thought they would continue to get away with it, that they had become sloppy with trying to hide it. Good riddance!

you know you'll be there binging all 8 episodes to find out how did they get rid of him and what will Claire do. You like the rest of all of us. This "no Kevin no show" backlash is so pointless and superfluous because nobody and you can bet Robin and the writers included, wanted the show to end this way. But here we are, thanks to Spacey's unprofessional and possible criminal behaviour. Here they are: Robin and the production team trying to do their best to give the show a closure and to make the cast and crew, who doesn't make millions like Robin does, get to keep their jobs for the season. It was already decided this will be the last season, and given how the show ended last season it would have been completely unnecessary to cancel it altogether. If you're truly a fan of the show you will support it no matter what. At least for the good intentions and the professionalism of Robin Wright and her enormous talent and for all the +300 people working on the show who had nothing to do with Spacey's mistakes.

well put it this way, who makes up the show? What is the show about? Who does the show focus on? It's quite simple - Frank Underwood. No Frank Underwood = no show. It's not even like Two and a half men where the show could still stand for awhile without Charlie Sheen. Kevin Spacey's acting is literally what House of Cards centers on. I don't know about backlash, I'll probably read what happens on Wikipedia but that'll probably be it.

I beg to differ: the show was about BOTH. The fact that Claire was the subtle, silent, hidden part of the couple and Frank was the showy one doesn't mean it was a bout him. I can agree with you that the casting of Spacey was instrumental to get the show going, but that has nothing to do with the arc of the story and what the story was about. I'm willing to bet that one of the reasons the writing was bad and the show started suffering a lot was that they keep writing about Frank and focusing on him, possibly as a diva request from Spacey, when his character arc was completed long ago, and the if the show would have shifted focus to Claire then the story and the quality of the show would have benefited tremendously and we would still have it among the best TV shows today...Please don't compare it to a sitcom with a talentless clown.

Why didn’t YOU do anything AT YOUR OWN WORKPLACE ? The woman’s only talent is being a jerk, while pretending she’s just a sweet gal from Arizona. So fake. No wonder her show is tanking.

Robin answered the questions very well. I feel like the media went after stars who worked with people to try and make them seem guilty for knowing but not doing anything to stop the bad behavior. But the predators are very careful to only do things when no one else is around. Shame on Savannah for asking twice and trying to make it seem like Robin knew something. Robin was a coworker on the show. Robins been in this game long enough to know how it works on sets and in the acting business. I know people have this fantasy that everyone on a show is all bff's with each other, but that's hardly ever the case. They are doing a job, is everyone at your work your friend? Didn't think so.

No one knew the disgusting garbage person he really was and I would never feel like I had the right to publicly go on a news segment to discuss him. Our business tried distancing and purging everything to do with him.

She probably hear the gossip and rumors but why would she need to comment of gossip and rumors? she's a serious talented actress who's alla bout the work and no pap strolls or Hollywood shameless promotion. And what was she expected to do then? stop the series and blame Spacey on behalf of the victims, who by the way decide themselves not to press charges and keep being employed on the show? is up to the victims to dictate when and where they're ready to speak out.Let's not do the usual same old thing of always blaming the women around the white rich guys who do wrong...

When will Savannah or others from Today sit down to answer the same types of questions about Matt Lauer? Robin Wright and Savannah Guthrie may not have "known" the depth of their co-workers' actions, but, in my opinion, they had to be aware of some sort of inappropriate behavior. Both of them had multiple accusers from their places of employment, and there is even a tape of Matt Lauer being inappropriate to Meredith Vieira on set. Those men got away with what they were doing for so long, and probably thought they would continue to get away with it, that they had become sloppy with trying to hide it. Good riddance!

Robin Wright is a woman who is really beautiful, not just Hollywood beautiful, not just photogenic. There's a lot of being OK with herself, living healthy through all the emotions - she has dealt well with many issues in her. Won't go as far as saying she has it all figured out - but she has a healthy relationship with her body, to eating, exercising, and accepting her age. So she radiates natural beauty from inside. which makes her physique more beautiful. So in that sense she was a too level headed woman to play the Jenny in Forrest Gump :) Even Robin's eyes show intelligence, and emotional wisdom. Very balanced presence she has, my young padawan. Already in Forrest Gump I felt she had the rare talent of bringing so many emotions to the screen so naturally. I'm here after just seeing Forrest Gump once again :)

Why do you think Anthony Rapp kept it secret for the past 30 years? Yes, maybe he wanted to sleep with Spacey but he got to a point where Spacey made it unconsensual, and Rapp didn't want to live with the shame as homosexuality was considered taboo in the 80's and 90's, and was finally confident to break the news due to the Harvey Weinstein incident. And being 30 years ago doesn't make a difference, Spacey was 26, he knew his motive and what he was doing and he's practically admitted to the allegation.

Patricia Clarkson worked with Spacey in the 5th season and said she wasn't that surprised about the allegations, but Robin Wright had worked with him for these past 6 years and didn't suspect anything inappropriate about him. That's kind of fishy to me.

They ruined the show by firing kevin spacy. ..house of cards without Kevin is absolutely nothing! The show is already finished to me and new season is nothing but a nightmare

It's crazy how much this reminds me of her character denying her affair with the the photographer Adam Galloway. Who knows what she knew?

House of cards without Kevin just died. Didnt even watch the last season. Its like Golden state without curry, Patriots without Tom brady and barcelona without messi.

That's a lie. They know each other for many many years. They worked together at "Hurlyburly" in 1998. While "House of Cards" she visited privately with Kevin Spacey many events, like baseball. We can find a lot of photos. "I didn't know the man..." is such a lie!! You shoud be ashamed! Without him, you would be nothing!!! You owe much to him!

I think someone who works with anyone will only see work place behaviour. Even socializing with co-workers is different from friends or family, or lovers ect. What could she say, she heard rumours? Would she even ever tell if she saw bad behavior and didn't report it? How many people might any of us work with that we could never guess what they are like when at a party and when in sexual encounters? Do any of us even want to know our co-workers' deeply personal life? The comment about seduction and power is all you need to hear. She understands a power dynamic is there and who can say?

They also knew each other from the time she was married to Sean Penn. she is a coward lier. I wonder what she has to say now that Kevin has been found not guilty and is coming back to work.
