Hi, I realize this was two years ago, but it was very helpful. On question: Do you run the one connection of these cubes to the color wire, and the other connection to the "Common" wire? I assume that's how it would have to work. I've got a bunch of these on the way to fix my 770X, which otherwise works great, but slows to a stop when it gets hot, so I'm hoping its this big can cap that's the problem. Thanks!

Sean, sorry for the late reply. The AC motor capacitor on my R2R had two capacitors in one cylinder. They are color coded. One for the .8uf(yellow wire) and the other for 2uf(red wire). I had to find two seperate AC caps and just zip tie them together. It doesn’t matter which direction the AC capacitor goes like electrolytic caps do. There isn’t a positive or negative or common to these. Hopefully you figured it out already👍

I have the same machine. It was working good until the motor stopped working. It has a slight motor hum but doesn't spin. Could it be the motor run capacitor.

Yes more than likely it’s the capacitor. Probably humming because it needs that extra kick from the capacitor to move the motor along. Mine was intermittent, especially when trying to rewind/ff tape. Definitely worth trying a replacement especially if it’s the original capacitor that’s still in the R2R.
