Many of the great players of his era. People today like to through stats at you to justify that people like cr7 are better. Don’t get me wrong, the current Cristiano is a beast. But what most today don’t seem to understand is that these machines played with teams that were all insane machines as well haha. They were all so fucking good that the entire team shared the stats/goals scored. Real Madrid at some point was legitimately invencible. So was Barcelona at another point. The teams they had were so insane that there was no “star”. They all were stars because they were all insaaaaaaaane. Madrid 2001 to 2007 was out of this world. Then Barcelona after that was also outrageous. It was beautiful football.

That's because he took a long run up and transferred some of that forward momentum into the ball. Think of it like a pool cue. If you tap the pool ball very close, it won't move as far or fast, but if you extend the cue far back and strike with speed and power, you can get a trick shot.

People will say Lahm was the best right back, but he was more defensive. What these guys offered going forward far outweighed what Lahm did defensively and anything that the Brazilians lacked in defense.

He learned where and how to hit the ball. It's not a mystery. If you play pool, you'll understand. It's a just a matter of practice. A lot of players don't spend enough time learning where to contact the ball, or aren't brave enough to put in absolute effort on a strike. I'm telling you, there are lots of potential players who could do this, but never got the chance because they weren't loud or boisterous enough to gain notoriety at school.

Think about how fast the ball travels because of how much force he exerts, and the fact that it curves so far back into the goal, the goal keeper doesn't even know if the ball is going out or swerving in. It's hard to assume the path of the ball when it turns at a 90 degree angle 😂

@@tofoo72 Same principal as pool. Of course there's an element of the conditions involved, but if you hit the ball with proper intention, you'll get near the target. It also takes practice. Imagine being 4 or 5 years old, given a ball, and you have a wall with markings on it. If you're at it every day for years, you'll figure out how to hit the exact same spot instinctively. Same thing if you practice hitting the curb and getting the ball to bounce straight back at you. You learn where to hit the ball, under it to get it to rise, over it to keep it down, to the side to get it to curve. If you have access to a full sized pitch, that's even better, as you will learn how to lean so that the ball doesn't go over the bar when you put some power. The point I am trying to make is, that the camera isn't on when kids are at practice. You would be shocked by some of the strikes and goals unrecorded. What you see in a match is only what gets captured. Most people are right footed, so if they slice the ball it will go in and outward. A left-footed slice goes outward, then inward. That's how you fool the keeper into standing still.

This guy is the sole reason why I chose to play soccer at the age of 12. I wasn't the best ball handler and did not have the best touch, but my coaches always knew I was 50/50 on scoring when I pulled the trigger from outside the 18 lol. Time flies.

I love how almost every roberto carlos videos are about his goals even though he was a defender. But, don't get me wrong. He was also one of the best defenders in his era. That's why he's rated so high in all football games.

This is when BRAZIL soccer was good, REALLY GOOD !! Pure power and pure grace !!

Soccer? football in Brazil is still one of the best in the world, but at some point it was the best with a lot of difference with who was in second place, you call football soccer and your country has never won anything you have no morals to say that someone doesn't it's REALLY GOOD, they won the olympics 2016 and reached the quarter finals in the last cup 😂😂

Muita potência no chute e precisão. Mas desses golaços (do passado), faria uns 30, 25% hoje. No passado, goleiro era só um adereço no campo. Era como se fosse uma simples obrigação ter alguém na porra do gol. Outro esporte.

Kind of. What I see though is just practice. A lot of players try for this kind of power and accuracy, but give up because the ball usually goes over the crossbar, and that's embarrassing. Instead, they should simply keep trying at training until they can repeat on target, full power shots without thinking. Also, playing pool helps comprehend the dynamics of a ball.

Even in slow motion his ball travels so fast.😲 I don't think today's footballers can generate so much power with that accuracy. Not only that barthez didn't got a chance to move for that famous free kick but other goal keepers couldn't stop the ball even after moving towards the ball. Hats off to Carlos.
