I cant believe he was in Toronto! He defined poetry like a champion. He is the proof that the lack of words doesn't mean you cant get your message across. He doesn't speak English well but I got his passion, his joy for life, his unapologetic love giving, to anyone, anywhere, anytime. Love is all you need. This is a man with courage! A revolutionary man in the 21st century is the one who goes out and loves without shame. This is what Benigni does. Notice how he recite the poem, as if he was somebody else, maybe Dante himself, as if he transformed in another person, far from the laughing man he is. So serious, so deep, exact in his words. Oh the importance of your first language in moments like this! Nice poetry recital! He is so brave, I dont think I could do the same. I am too scared of everyone and everywhere. Saddly...

No need to be sad. You have highlighted all that was wonderful and beautiful in Benigni'' s remarkable speech. Take him as your role model. He is not worried about his accent, intonation, pronunciation etc. All that he seems to do is to convey joy and convince us that 'Life is beautiful ,' and I am convinced . I am an old, ailing, Indian woman, and I had seen this film at Delhi when I was in my late thirties. I am not sure if my reply is relevant or useful but I am sure I luckily came upon the video and your comment kind of triggered a response from me which is bound to help me down the memory lane recapturing forgotten but joyful experience.

I am sorry I have mispelt the Italian maker of ' Life is Beautiful'.

When you see this man, Roberto Benigni you can never imagine that a man who acts so silly in his movies and also in his life, has become one of the most loved actors of our time and that his movie Life is Beautiful is such an expressive and emotional movie done with such great direction. He is for me a rare and loving man! And of course let's not forget his wife, she is a bright, intelligent woman many aspire to be like.

He is an extraordinary person, unique!

There is literally nothing that this man can not do

About three years ago I met him in Rome. Such a humble and entertaining gentleman

What a genuinely lovely human being. So real and honest. I would LOVE to meet him.

After watching his movie "Life is Beautiful" i am filled with respect🙏 and love♥️ for this world class actor.

I'm italian and I had the same impression. He was speaking in english but his "intention" was so italian and passionate that seemed to me he was speaking italian. Benigni is a rare person also in Italy.
