Not really. Edwards literally made gun signs and kept saying "head shot" dead after knocking Usman out cold, and mentioned Usman's dad being in prison during the buildup for the trilogy if I remember it correctly. It's all entertainment at the end and Edwards gonna be happy when he sees the PPV buys due to Colby's trash talk.

Robert brought up something that I saw nobody else bring up, and that's how Colby had to get into the fire and close the distance to be able to pressure and shoot and he just couldn't, Leon was too fast for him, he usually throws a bunch of shots then shoots under but Leon was seeing those from a mile away

It wasn’t that he couldn’t. He hadn’t fought in years and was unwilling to take any type of damage in order to get his game plan off. It is sad but Colby’s old now and he looked it. His striking is shit and he should retire now

@@scotscottscottt yea i think you bring up a massive point that he just DIDNT attempt to take him down but like 3 times in the first 15 minutes. And then in the 4th and 5th he had decent success take leon down, but at that point leon had more in the tank still so colby couldnt do anything with the takedown. Leon is definitively good but it seemed like that wasn't the colby we are used to

I feel like they should show the KO aftermaths. Really show the fans the reality of the risks of fighting and hopefully make fans respect the fighters more, showing what they are risking. It was horrible to watch. But it did happen. And I feel like everyone should be aware of the risks... Fans don't get to see the 20 surgeries you guys have to endure for what may or may not be a sufficient paycheck.. so more or less if we accept fighting into our lives as entertainment. We should be aware that the people in the cage are real alive people who are risking something super real. This is just my opinion, though. Thanks for the great podcast. Keep it up :)

I think every few years there is a new element introduced to MMA. There was a period where wrestlers dominated every division. Then it moved to the power of kickboxing and the calf kick. Epitomised by Adesonya and Pereria. Now there seems the next step is reaction speed. Tom aspinol was so much quicker and slicker than pavlovic, and Leon Edwards countered Colby with speed. Beating him to every punch.

I think the issue with Paddy is that he keeps his chin so high. Against someone with more speed than a washed out Tony, Paddy is going to get his chin checked very hard. Fight to make is going to be Paddy vs Green, or Moicano.

He has also taken to doing a weird bladed stance with his legs locked out and lead hand extended when he needs to reset. It was fine against Tony, who is slow and throws sloppy, but anyone with good basics is going to chop his legs to pieces if he keeps that up.

Rob, what are your thoughts on Driscus and Seans comments about you, they both mentioned that you only have a karate blitz and once that's nullified there's nothing else. Would you say that's a fair assessment during the fight against DDP or would you say they aren't paying attention to your other skills in the cage

I feel you need to threaten standups/wrestleups from guard to enable that dangerous guard game. If people arent pressuring forward to keep you held down, they can be defensive on top and not be too threatened by otherwise dangerous guards. Just have to use the guard as a reactive position and use what they give you, not just force what you want.

And I still haven’t even had time to play Starfield and Spider-Man 2 yet. But 98 was a good year. But maybe it’s an unfair comparison because I only had an n64 and I was 10.

I honestly believe that in the 1st minute and a half of the fight Colby realised the following. 1. The easy one, Leon was fighting orthodox, and he'd spent his whole camp shooting and striking with southpaws. 2. Leon was too quick for him 3. Leon's not fighting emotional and wreckless. He just decided he was outmatched on the feet, and he wasn't going to engage because risking it all for his last chance at a championship was less important to him than not getting finished.

To be fair, BGS wasnt the primary studio on Fallout 76. It was a new studio under the Bethesda umbrella that was assembled specifically for handling multoplayer projects. So, they have no leg to stand on, no excuse to make. They did set up thay studio for failure by forcing them to create a mutiplayer open world game with their single player engine with zero netcode, zero security, and which is known for its maaaaany bugs.

Colby's incredulity at losing was probably to keep the character going forward as he can say he should have won. He almost messed it up by applauding Leon as the result was being announced (as those that know they have lost tend to do) but pulled it back at the last minute

Rob, no one has commented on the fact that Strickland jumped off a chair with a flying knee and dricus ducked right into it. Idk how good it connected but it was extremely close. After a rewatch and slow mo, Do you think the knee partially connected? BTW I think strickland downplayed you only bc dricus said his izzy win was a fluke.
