It's Robert de (day) Bruce. He was a Norman Scott (The Normans came from France... hence de which is French for the) and it's pronounced Ban knock burn. Not every word or name is pronounced as it's spelled. Like the Seat of the High King of Ireland was spelled Team Hair, but pronounced Chow Er. The English bastardized it into Tara (Tar ra).
