With SC , diagnosed at 23... i'm 36 now. Been on Hydrea and Folic acid for 9 years now! It's definitely a manageable condition, you need to know your body. Deep story, thanks for sharing

I was diagnosed at 23 as well,had 3 kids now and have put a stop to child bearing cus of pains,I can't imagine going inside that labour room again,the pains are soul wrecking

Robert I have sc as well. I was 17 when I found out. It was à month b4 my 18th birthday and pain hit me bad. I got admitted 3 days b4 and early morning I had my gall bladder removed and 31 gall stones.

Head up King, stay strong 💪. Battling SC myself, records of trait throughout childhood then 2016, full blown SC. Same as u i was told all my life i was as healthy as an ox then boom, life changed in an instant. On my 2nd day of hydroxyurea now, shall see how it goes. Prayers for all who deal with this disease. Keep fighting, u control your life, not the illness 💪. Bless

Wow 27? I was diagnosed as 6 and I’m 32 now. I have sickle cell beta thalassemia ST. I take hydrea and get monthly hydration treatments. Honestly I have minimal crisis so thank god. With you brother. We are in this together.

OMG. I have SC & was diagnosed at the age of 7. I cant imagine living 2 the age of 27 not knowing. Doctors & hospitals have 2 do better.

I just found out I’m Sc. I’m 24

I was diagnosed around 2. My parents were tested and my mom is AC and my dad AS. I did not start having serious problems until I turned 19. Hydroxyurea did not work and most of the treatments they have available either do not work or we don't qualify for treatments due to type. I was going to try a stem cell transplant but my sister is only my haplotype match so the doctor advised against it.

While I'm sorry to hear that. I'm #HBGSS. SORRY YOU HAVE TO GO THROUGH THAT.

Got it too. Got diagnosed at birth. But back then there was even less known about it than now. Thanks for sharing!
