I'll never forget that 1st ride to TDC. It was the most miserable day of my life. Its hard to see the years in front of u. Every inmate becomes an expert at figuring out ways to make the time pass. Then u get out,and the years fly by. I was locked up from 2000-2010,and the day I went to prison was the worst of my life, and the day I got out was the best!! I never understood how people would say,I was so happy that I cried! When I walked out and saw my mother waiting outside,I cried from being happy. Not ashamed to admit it! Only time that has happened since, was when my son was born. Pray that these guys change their ways, and make it back to the Free world! NOT everyone that gets out, goes back.I know lots of dudes that have manned up,did the crime, did the time, became accountable, and made great lives on the outside! REDEMPTION IS REAL!! GOD BLESS!

This is easy time, no comparison to back in the early 70's shortly after I came home from from Vietnam. I was already used to 115 degree days but we didn't get to work at a slow pace like these guys are doing. Texas was still on the old roe tender head knocker system back then. Nobody knows how many men are buried in unmarked graves in those hundreds of thousands of Texas prison system land cause if they didn't have no people on the outside that knew or cared where they were then there was no need to document anything on those guys and there were plenty in that situation. The movie, " Cool Hand Luke " was pretty much the way Texas used to be except Texas was probably a little worse than that movie.

Also, for everyday those guys work and keep their nose clean they are probably getting 3 days knocked off their sentence. The slightest offense could cost them years of Good Time credit. That is what keeps those guys in line.

@@hello-ii5lh 13th amendment? You’re not very good at reading are you? 😂 Hey, I could understand how a bum that’s never worked a day in their life or lifted a finger to do anything could get working a job confused with slavery.😂 Everyone in those jails don’t agree with you though. You got the majority of guys begging to get on work force or trustee just to get outside during the day. Same with prisons. You could stay in the prison all day or go work a job, 99% of the guys are taking those jobs while you’re sitting on your bed complaining about slavery and a 13th amendment that you’ve never read in your life 😂. Like I said though, I get it. Working a job Monday - Friday must be a real Fking shock to a loser that’s never done anything with their lives but be a lazy parasite. I got a couple friends that still work with the same company that they went to work for every day when they were in prison. You would think if it was slavery that would’ve hit the road when they were freed instead of getting a raise and a supervisor position.😂

    7 жыл бұрын

Yes there are days off. I was in a maximum hell hole a while back. You work during the week and off on the weekend. In Texas you don't earn a dime like some places. You "earn" a better block/dorm to live on...kind of like a good neighborhood, with better privileges, etc. If you work in the fields, that's the worst. You will usually start there and move up to kitchen...laundry room. Some units have computer drafting...programming...etc. Of course we didn't get paid squat, but the prison did. But we got to sit in the AC all day in the drafting/mapping building which is like living in Beverly Hills. If you get in trouble for anything you lose your sweet job and get kicked down.

@@DanielSmith-lz8xh shit...2 years and 10 months back time. Youre good. Once you get to TDC , time will fly by. Especially, if you can make store. I was in county for like a year, and had to go do 10 months state jail (had back time. But, no good time) thank god my country jail was full. I'd get bounced to different counties . With movie and music channels ... badass food ( I mean that. not because I was homeless or anything) Made time fly by. But, TDC you get outside rec . Just get in good with some people, work out, stay out the way. TDC sucks tho no heat or ac... I was blessed. Landed in Austin state jail..they had A/C and heat. which most units dont. The TDC side had no a/c . Just big ass fans blowing hot air. Anyway, hope you get through whatever you have to and make it out in the free world. Life is better doing whats right. I hated state jail and jail.. once I sobered up and realized im wasting valuable time and not making a pay check really bothered me. But, saw some crazy shit and had some good laughs.

Offenders can ask for a job change if they want to. Most of the time they will get it, depending on the job. These cats you see here are lucky. When I worked in the field, I would never argue with any man that didn't want to go to work....(Sunshine.....Free world air.....General toughness of doing hard labor every day) "Stay your ass in that cell then." "Aww......Hey...Lookout bossman....I'm ready!...I'm ready!" Keeping the crooks FROM work is sometimes a challenge.
