Robert MacIntyre Tries to Make a Hole-In-One with 500 balls

DP World Tour Originals presents the Chase The Ace Hole-In-One Challenge, episode five.
With one day and exactly 500 balls to play with, we challenged the two-time DP World Tour winner to defy the odds and make a hole-in-one. Bob has been asked to take on the par three signature 8th hole at Pinheiros Altos Golf Club in the Algarve, Portugal. Only an ace is good enough on a hole measuring 142 yards.
Could he find that one, perfect shot which only one man had managed in the history of this challenge - Andy Sullivan made an ace at The London Club with his 230th attempt, with Edoardo Molinari, Brandon Stone and Thomas Pieters all unable to achieve the feat.

@@cptkent one thing I’ve learnt watching KZread is never check the comments until after you’ve watched the video. The amount of times I’ve ruined the ending on something because I decided to look through the comments mid video🤣🤣

The players don't want to spend a full day hitting 500 of the same shot, I think maybe Rory said this when he did the one ace challenge with JT. But yeah, it's incredible content. Wish every pro could do it!

@@soleary053 Spot on. Why would the top pros risk physical fatigue, let alone injury, for a KZread video? But I’m sure there are some lesser known youngsters on the tour who would happily take on the challenge. Would love to see more of these!

@@soleary053 I get that for sure. Maybe use this to bring out the lesser known pros? OOH MAKE IT AN OPTION IN THE CONTRACT TO MAKE THEM DO ONE OF THESE. Then pick the up and comers you want to highlight!

This is how you gain fans guys. I’d never heard of Robert before and after a few minutes I’ll pull for him whenever I see his name.

Love it. Plenty of emotion from the man. Was absolutely beating himself up for not hitting every one in the hole.
I love this so much more than Dude Perfect videos. Seeing the agony before the elation just takes to into an entirely different stratosphere.

i mean yes, the talent is undeniable, however he's only saying that because his goal is an ace. On tour im sure he would be over the moon being less than a foot away, just saying.

I was his driver from the hotel to the course and back for all 4 days, in 2019. One of the nicest guys I have ever met, he gave me a cap, glove and a sleeve of signed balls the last trip. We were not allowed to ask and he did it himself. Absolute class

What I realized is how often for a tour pro to miss the green from 150yds in and yet us amateurs think we're supposed to hit the green... lol. So impressive for Robert to be that close several times before actually making it. Makes me think of the Justin/Rory video... now I'm going to go watch that haha.

Much lower than that for a touring pro, especially on a green and pin placement like that. I reckon he would have been gutted not to make it in 500 shots.

well done Robert, how many shots did it finally take to hole in?
There's been a lot of fun questions being asked in the golf community lately like "You have 24h to do a hole in one on a par 3 for 1 million dollars, if you fail, you have to quit golf for 5 years." The fact that it took 103 tries for one of the best players in the world should tell us just how hard it would be for us regular joes.
just out of curiosity, with what iron?
I'm surprise he wasn't like "it didn't go in the center of the cup... damn"...
