i made a 3D model of robbie years ago, i have some animations on my channel from way back....i also have lots of reference material for building the model, blue prints and photos, literally thousands.
"WARNING WILL ROBINSON, WARNING"‼️
I remember those "Don't squeeze the charmin" commercials! 😂
MY FAVORITE ROBOT🤖OF ALL TIME❣️👍🏻
I recall the line about the person in the Robby suit being a 'lush', but at that age, I had no idea what that term meant. I remember being perplexed by the line, but I'd forgotten what show it was in. This video filled in the memory gap - it was on an episode of Wonder Woman.
Robbie's voice in Forbidden Planet was that of Marvin Mueller, Michael Anthony, the man who passed out a weekly check on the TV series The Millionaire.
Loved Roby the Robot on Forbiden Planet and his further appearencs...
I'm a HUGE Robby fan. I've always enjoyed his TV and movie appearances. The same man who designed Robby designed the Lost In Space robot. Kinoshita, I believe his name was.
I remember the Mork and Mindy episode that was my favorite episode of that show. Also, I think the Pink Lady is referring to the Japanese singing group Pink Lady and Jeff.

Yeah, I think so, but I hadn't ever heard of them before I was researching for this video.

@tvcrazyman Yeah, they were a singing group that was popular in the 70s. I first heard about them when reading the autobiography. The Life of Jim Varney a.k.a Ernest and Jim Clampit.
Robby the robot was a mechanize suit, that was the first time I heard about this.
Robby also appeared with the Byrds when they sang Mr. Spaceman on TV.
I met Robbie the Robot back in the ‘60s at Harry’s Ace Hardware on Magazine Street in New Orleans. I was around four or five years old at the time. He scared the hell out of me and everyone else, as the man in the robot suit was obviously drunk. Robbie was rude and crass, much to the audience’s surprise. He made a little girl blow up a balloon until it popped in her face, the entire time yelling at her to, “BLOW!!! BLOOOW!!!!! BLOOOOOOOOW!!!!!!!!!” The children were terrified and the adults were mortified! Then, at the end of the event, Robbie gave everyone ‘autographed’ black and white 8” X 10” photographs of himself that came out of the horizontal slats in his ‘neck’. I remember crying a lot, and the evening was most traumatic for all who attended.

Wow! That sounds terrible. That would be very interesting to see if someone could have taped it back then.
Robbi had a great agent

I think he must have.😀
Great video. He was also in the 1988 movie, The Phantom Empire with the cyclops head.
There was only one Robby costume produced for Forbidden Planet, so all his appearances prior to the 1970s are the actual Forbidden Planet prop. Starting in the early 1970s replicas were made and I believe all his film appearances from that point (around the time of the Columbo episode) on are replica costumes.
Fond memories ❤
Oh wow awesome video put together well done

Your welcome looks fun a blast to do this creativity
i liked him in Columbo.
I wish the robot from Lost in Space got around that much!
I saw a toy Robby robot on "I Dream of Jennie."
6:49, This was the very 1st Hanna-Barbera Live-Action TV Show. 7:08, That actually got a chuckle outta me alittle bit.
Fantastic job "tv crazy man" you totally nailed it..."now get me my hot chocolate!"

I think his appearance on the Addams Family was funny too and the one on Dobie Gillis really stands out in my mind and Lost in Space, of course, but the Mork and Mindy episode was hilarious and nothing can beat his first appearance on Forbidden Planet.
Robby also did a Commercial for Starlog Magazine.

I think I saw that somewhere on youtube. There's probably a lot more commercials he did that have been lost to time.
Very cool! I was waiting for this video.

Glad you liked it!
Isaac Asimov's 3 Laws of Robotics apply to Robby.
Don’t forget he cameos in Gremlins.
You should do a video on Pink Lady and Jeff. It only lasted a few episodes, but it's worth it.
"Mildred looked like Robby... had lost his head and gone to a junkyard on Sesame Street to replace it." A better comment might have been to say that they slapped a wig on the Uncle Simon head from the Twilight Zone episode mentioned earlier at 4:59.
Robby was on the Red Skelton Hour 1967-04-25 Loused in Space
Great robot, but batteries not incuded!🤖
10:01, I'm not gonna lie, I never knew that this thing was somewhat suppose to be Robbie the Robot in Looney Tunes Back in Action (which the Film turned 20 Years Old last week), or at least resembled him, since I wasn't fully familiar with the Character until I started watching this video right now.
Wow, this video is GREAT! I remember most of these appearances...although I think I had missed The Love Boat and Mork & Mindy, somehow... The only nit I found was regarding Space Academy: The title of that episode should be pronounced as if it were spelled "My Favorite Marsha" (a reference to the old sci-fi comedy "My Favorite Martian" (and not "mar-SEE-uh"!) I really enjoy your videos...thanks for all you hard work!

I've never seen forbidden planet I always though this was the lost in space robot lol 🤣🤣🤣

I think I thought the same thing for years. A lot of people get those robots confused.
Forbidden planet was based on Shakespeares the Tempest, Robbie was supposed to be the helpful spirit Arial
We are no told that was not him. It was a duplicate built by its creator. The orginal was sold
Maynard was more like Jughead than a Beatnik.
I thought he was on Gilligan's Island.
The Lost in Space robot was designed by the same person who did Robby.

I know he was in the hands of a collector, probably still is. There's more than one model of him to.
With robby doing so many tv appearances did the lost in space robot do any other appoearances in other shows

I think a few, but not nearly as much. I know they used him for one Saturday morning show in the 70's.
Perry Como? Perry Como??? Wha?
What about " Tobor"
There is no scene in Forbidden Planet where Robby carried Anne Francis. I always hated that lying movie poster!

If you like thoughtful science fiction you should try to catch Forbidden Planet. There are very good reasons it is considered a classic film. Unusual story - a cautionary tale with a lot of relevance today. And Anne Francis is very easy on the eyes.
The poor robot met up with some idiots didn't he..👍🦘
I’m upset with the way you glazed over Earth Girls are Easy.
Poor Robby, the Krell created him before their great disaster, gets brought back to Earth, stars in one B grade movie, then reduced to silly bit parts in crappy shows. (except Twilight Zone) Then the indignity of being cast into the stupidest show of the sixties, Banana Splits.
The movie The Invisable Boy was the absolute Worst movie ever.
