Robam Chun Por (Blessing Dance): Khmer Arts Academy at TEDxSoCal
Khmer Arts is a public benefit organization dedicated to fostering the vitality of Cambodian arts and culture and to expanding the role arts and culture play in the development and well-being of young people and of society as a whole. The organization is a natural extension of the work of its founding artistic director, the innovative choreographer, dancer, vocalist and educator Sophiline Cheam Shapiro.
Khmer Arts sees itself as a nexus of arts and culture in a transnational community endowed with wonderful traditions and looking for ways of using those traditions to improve its quality of life. Through its numerous activities, it seeks to create a continuum of recruitment, training, research, outreach, creation and performance that develops accomplished artists, exquisite works of art and diverse, informed audiences.
The Khmer Arts Academy offers young members of the Greater Long Beach, California, Cambodian community year-around after school and weekend workshops in classical dance as well as public performance.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

@@bluewish1427 they tried recovering not from the genocide but from the Thai because we gave them the tradition and because the Thai people gained independence in 1300 to invaded Angkor, Khmer apsara is older than Thai by 500 years
The dancers represent "Apsara"( heavenly dancers) who come down to earth to bless people or the audiences from evil spirits. Also the blossoms are a symbol of blessings from gods.

This is melt my heart. I loved Khmer dance.
I am an american and i love living in Cambodia. I like the simple houses on stilts . I like haviing tokay lizards sing me to sleep with their cricket friends at night and have the rooster wake me up at sunrise . For some reason when i would stay at a farm i get the urge to feed the animals.
Beautiful dance and also good performance. Love it , love my culture =)
