Random RVD memory: Probably right around '99, was at a show in Trenton, NJ. I have ringside seats. RVD comes out, does his usual thumb point thing. Me, a fan, does it back it to him... he points at 13 year old and me says, "HEY! You leave that to Rob Van Dam." I miss ECW. It was so... interactive. Over several shows I got spit on by Justin Credible. I got crushed by Sal E Graziano. I got bled on by Balls Mahoney. I had like a 20 minute long conversation with Paul Heyman in the lobby. Sandman threw beer can at me. There was nothing like ECW and there never will be again.

RVD is legitimately a tough guy. The Sandman talks about Rob walking up and asking Taz to pick a hand. He then slapped Tax twice with each hand and then walked away. Taz supposedly threatened to kick RVD's ass because Taz felt he was kicking him too hard in matches.

He always has such a good way of explaining something to a degree to where virtually anybody can understand it and saying things like well instead of just saying it let me paint a picture for you you know it's very easy to understand whether you're 60 years old or 10 years old you know RVD is always a consonant professional and the way he handles himself I've always worth listening to a much like so many people have said on this list and I remember seeing him in those early early ECW days living so close to Philadelphia New York you know and I could go to either City and you know 45 minutes or so you know so every weekend and during the week for school days back then you know we would be going down to the arena and then hitting the matches would end so late and then hit in the steak shop afterwards there'd be all the wrestlers will some of them anyway and they're always so willing to just say hello to the fans and it was the best experience the ECW ones or by far the best experience not always the best wrestling but the best experience and the most memorable experience and that is something I think ECW will forever be remembered for as well as RVD because every night you see him in is like memorable because of the efforts in much like everything else he does

Vader was never in ECW (would have been AWSOME if he was) and when RVD signed in 96 (I believe) Taz already dumped the Tazmaniac gimmick mid/late 95. Remember when RVD arrived in ECW Taz had the fued with Sabu (his former partner) and attacked him, only for RVD to save him. That started the Taz vs Sabu rivalry, and the RVD vs Taz mini fued which Taz dominated. From 95-97 Tazz was undefeated only losing to Sabu, then the same night beat Shane to get the television title back. The whole timeframe RVD arrived in ECW Taz was a major player. Also the FTW belt was a storyline that was created because people couldn’t get championship matches due to the current champ being injured….the creation of the FTW belt (brooklyn World Championship belt) for the purpose of No days off

Taz was running out the door of an airport once and stepped on my foot , hard enough that I yelled ouch out loud. He sort of sneered at me and walked away without saying anything. As opposed to Big Show who was on a people mover at an airport, bascially blocking the whole thing and apologizing to everyone who tried to walk by him.

It's easy to bury someone in an interview but this dude has always kept it honest without having yo be an edgy dickhead. And he always stays true to himself no matter what anyone says. I worked up the nerve for the following interaction: "excuse me, sir" RVD: "Yeah?" "Rob Van Dam?" "Yep!" "Just want to say I'm a big fan of your work!" "Hey, thanks" *handshake* And I left it at that. To me, it was perfect.
