Rob Halford (AKA The Metal God) is, alongside Bruce Dickinson and Ronnie James Dio, considered the greatest heavy metal singer that has ever lived, and rightfully so. His operatic vocals and showmanship have made him one of the most famous singers in the world. He is known for his powerful voice and 4-octave vocal range.

Gotta hard disagree with that one my friend. I honestly think Halford sounded terrible on the tour. Just listen to how he sings that beginning part in your version, it sounds awful. I don’t blame Halford, I know he was struggling with addiction, but it really showed. I’m grateful he got clean and started sounding better than ever by 88. I’ll give you this, even though his voice was terrible on that tour, those high notes are still very impressive and clean, technically more impressive than the one I picked in that one regard. In all other ways the version I picked was better, especially in that final section with the soft singing. Thanks for commenting!!

@@TheGreatestVoice1958 dortmund was definitely the best show of that tour except for maybe the very beginning. in the beginning of the song, you can hear this really shakey vibrato, most likely caused by poor breath placement. ive never done coke or been sloshed before a show, but when im out of breath, i end up using more compression to try to extend the note which causes that same uncontrolled shakiness. the only thing people really remember from that performance is the part after kk's solo... however, the soft interlude in 83 with that beautiful glissando easily tops the 2010 performance. Halford now is too dramatic for me. i liked it when he was expressive but soft about it rather than trying to keep that bellow.

@@nebulyte3651I think the soft part was way better in the one I picked. He sounds like an opera singer (I love the more dramatic approach personally) I will give you that the clean high notes were superior though. Overall his voice was sounding strained and pitchy and nowhere near as strong as the 2010 version.

Resurrection is a great song, but chosen from Live Insurrection... Well, I don't know how much real live music is in there. It's full off studio recordings. I think Silente Screams from Rock on Rio was a much better performance

Rob Halford is most definite metal singer in all. And still delivering at his age (72) is incredible! Just to correct, first video is from 1975 BBC show. Maybe best video recorded live shows are : 1982 Memphis-Live Vengeance(Judas Priest Live VHS), 1983 US Festival San Bernandino Heavy Metal Day and 1983 Dortmund Pop Rock Show.

@@TheGreatestVoice1958 Dickinson can't sing live or he could for like 3 years. He sounds like he is drowing when he sings. He has 0 head voice and no versatility. Dio sounds like a mad dog, I personally call him a cheap copy of freddy mercury. You have JAwbreaker live from 1988, Live insurrection has genocide, beyond the realms of death....Sinner from unleashed in the east, devils child live from 1982 I believe, painkiller live Aneheim, Victim of changes Epitaph, Come and get it New haven, Live album has many including you got another thing coming, love bites, mmm riding on the wind Dortmund, ETC

@@OshoLee Oh yah I think I’ve seen you before on other videos, idk if it’s the same account name but there is no way it’s not you as you’re not only using the same demonstrably false argument but you’re even using the exact same word choices. Where to even begin here. For starters, how much head voice a singer has does not determine how good they are, just what voice type they have. Halford’s voice naturally is stronger in that area, whereas Dickinson and Dio are stronger in their chest voice. It’s just how their voices are built. As for Dickinson live, he’s sounded amazing live for almost all his career. I think what you’re referring to is his years during and after the world slavery tour where the excessive touring greatly hurt his voice live (1985-1992) but once he started his solo career and left Maiden he regained his live abilities and even surpassed his 1981-1984 work, especially by the late 90s with Accident of Birth and Chemical Wedding. He’s sounded great ever since and only started faltering after his throat cancer which even you can’t blame him for that. My top 5 live performances video for Bruce clearly demonstrates his greatness live in various time periods. I have clips from him as a young, middle aged, and older man, and he objectively sounds fantastic on all of them. If you suggest otherwise I’d like specific examples of how he doesn’t. Dio sounds absolutely nothing like Freddie Mercury, they’re not even remotely similar. What a bizarre comparison. Furthermore, Dio is technically better than Mercury in every way. Much more power, better control, more stamina, better live, better technique, superior vibrato, etc. I think you’re blatant disrespect and factually incorrect statements in regards to Dio and Bruce stems from you being a Rob Halford fanboy and you can’t stand that Dio and Bruce are often cited as being the best metal singer over him. It’s totally fine that you personally rank Halford as #1, and you can respectfully make your case why, but please stop resorting to just blatantly disrespecting two other Metal Gods who are objectively amazing singers in order to make your point. It makes you look like a complete fool.

I think "Ram It Down" (Live at New Haven 1988) is among his top 10 live performances. "Judas Rising" (Live in Tokyo 2005) is another great live performance, but he doesn't do something spectacular with his voice. I appreciate that his voice has become fuller and less nasal.
