As a Dedede main with crippling self doubt, that "settle for something comfortably safe and much easier to fix when you fuck up" cuts pretty damn deep. Also, the "you're a Donkey Kong player without any balls" bit is incredibly accurate, since there's been plenty of times where I've gotten drunk and absolutely smoked people with DK. I don't have that same ability when I'm sober because I don't have any balls when I'm sober.

Then try his very hardest on any character he got like this was life or death going as far as to research anyone he didnt do good on. I sympathize with your buddy. I no-lifed Smash Bros and Rivals of Aether a few years ago and got what is, among my close friend group, unbeatable skill. In reality it's probably nowhere near tournament level, but I am the undisputed best of my friends, who are the only people i play Smash with, though I always love playing it with them. I find it unfun to win without challenge every round, and they also find it unfun to lose without hope every round; it's a lose-lose scenario. So i change up my characters every round to put myself at a handicap so we can all have fun. They've been getting better though, which is awesome to see. I think someday soon they'll be able to go toe-to-toe with me, and I'm excited for that. I know I'm sounding arrogant, but the point is that I understand your friend's position, at least somewhat.

@@GldnClaw Advanced strat: jab one, then short hop over them to avoid whatever they mash expecting to be able to interrupt your jab two, and back air. Doesn't work on Tough Guy armor, though. I'm also fairly fond of dropping from ledge, double jump, then unload a charge shot then tether back to ledge. They can only punish it if they expect me to do it ahead of time.

Like anyone I have my favorite fighters, but I also like to have fun when playing with my friends. Then you have some people that will only pick the same character, insist on items/final smashes being turned off, and only Final Destination style maps allowed. None of us are close to being pro players so it comes off as annoying most of the time.

alright I'll play bad cop lmao Captain Falcon is hype but not as hype as Falcon upplayers say he is. Knee hasn't been an interesting move for 2 decades, and fishing for stomp knee 10 times in 30 seconds isn't an interesting play style. Also, Falcon players tend to either be pretty cool people, or the cringiest attention-hungry mofos out there that only play him because others think he's hype, there's no in between. I was so surprised when i first learned Samus' "spamus" reputation a few years ago: I've always been a samus main and I've always loved bringing her into close combat- not because she's good at it but her melee combos are so satisfying to pull off- chaining the uppercut blasts into a screw attack is probably the most satisfying combo in the game imo

I love how the entirety of the Mewtwo roast is: "My 10 year-old self sucked ass at playing Mewtwo so now i hate him"

i played kirby in the brawl, and yep. you're right. kirby's up B, down B and hammer is what i love to do the most, because it feels the best when they are telegraphed so long but still get them to land.

you kinda got me with kirby. i do love kirby as kirby, but i also love him as a fighter in smash bros. i find myself using throw attacks a LOT with kirby, and his aerials and tilts also feel pretty good. i just like how his play style feels overall

I really love the Kirby Games. But I also have to give it to Hugabees he's right that Kirby hasn't been good for ages. I only really play Smash Brothers Brawl and when my cousins came to visit with the newest version I was shocked at how much my game was thrown off when trying to do my usual Kirby thing.

Each one of his stage entrances should imply he blundered into a fight and has no idea how he got there. Even at the victory screen he's "Who just said my name? Oh- we're applauding me?" Even his character selection should look off, just to suggest that Majima was never invited and has just wound up here by accident and decided to throw hands when he saw a fight going down between wrestling dogs and magic swordsmen

I actually play yoshi as a trapper style, I try to lure people to the edge of a map, and then eat them, pooping the egg with them off the map. It is not easy to pull off, but watching your friends hopelessly fall to their doom is always fun

I'm more surprised at the fact Huggbees knows who Shantae is than that he doesn't like the fact Pyra and Mythra were included

As a K.Rool main I can say for certain only Gang-plank Galleon at 200% volume goes through my head

Tbh Kid Icarus Uprising is REALLY REALLY fun. The combat is highly customizable and a bit tricky to master, but the plot is fun, the voice acting is great (I still sing Pit's little song to myself all the time), and if a sequel was ever in the works I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Dude same, loved the games, begged my mom to get it for me and by god are they fun. I see where he comes from from some of the points but I still think Kid Icarus dissevered a spot in the game. however dark pit could fo been a skin and Plautana was an unneeded inclusion, happy it got more light on the game as a hole though.

Palutena is a really endearing character in KIU, Smash gave her exactly none of that other than a few canned voice lines. Her animation in Smash 4 and Ultimate is really good though, and at a competitive level she's good against the cringe zoners that no one likes.

I've never been a Final Fantasy fan, but I've gotten a good idea of its appeal by watching a streamer play through VII Rebirth. And I gotta say, your description for Cloud & FF is pretty spot on. It looked very much like not my thing because I don't like anime or sci-fi or etc. The premise is surprisingly simple enough to grasp, the characters & motifs are strong, and there's so much goofy crap wedged in between the right places. It's almost like Star Wars in a sense

Here from 2024, your snake speech actually got people playing well and now snake is voted s tier from the best players in the world

As a bowser and ganondorf(and mewtwo at one point) main since brawl I agree whole heartedly(despite the fact that he's the best he's ever been since the previous games) outside of challenging yourself most serious bowser mains are really built different and bowser can really mess people up the moment he catches them. Bowser at least got buffs to be interesting and even got faster to the point he runs faster than people like Diddy kong and super armor Ganondorf didn't which he probably could've had

*"Roasting every Super Smash Bros. Character"* *Proceeds to roast the hell out of the audience INSTEAD of the characters.*

Speaking of incineroar: When I was in middleschool, I found out that they chose incineroar over decidueye; I was in denial that decidueye wasn't in the game, and I went through every stage of grief because of it. I now realize (in retrospect) that I could've just picked up a copy of poken, and none of this would happen.

I was pleasantly surprised by how uplifting his message about Incineroar's inclusion was, since I liked his moveset and he pretty much ended up as my main. What he said next put me in hospitalization.

I main Wii Fit but yeah, I don't go online and prefer playing to have fun... She's really awesome, has inspired me to be more physically active, and is always a great first pick when playing with friends. I was thoroughly expecting to get roasted but ended up with tears of joy in my eyes.

I have a friend who plays Wii Fit and is actually top ranked at my college. Very nice guy, he paid for a hotel room when we were going to a tournament with other people from the college and wouldn't even let me pay for part of it, and during that trip I found out we went to the same tiny high school and I actually knew his younger brother. That is to say, if you main Wii Fit, I already have respect for you. As for the character themselves, I think they're underrated. They're fun, and while clunky I'd say they're solid if you know what you're doing. If Incineroar didn't exist in Smash, I'd probably try to main Wii Fit.

This entire video was brilliant, but was a lot funnier as a Robin/Palutena main

The Ganondorf roast, as a Ganon main, is INCREDIBLY accurate.

I like that his take for mewtwo was basically a self roast.

As a Kirby main since forever, he definitely got me there. This video was great; really gathered me and my siblings' mains. Also, I felt every blow in the Sora bit yet can't really argue with it.

As a game and watch main, yes I was first introduced to him in smash but my dad saw how I always played him and gave me his old game and watch handhelds he used to play while working in the Pentagon. Tbh Mr. Game and Watch is truly nostalgic for me because my dad used to have those and gave me and my brother one to play with. That was my first video game about 1 or 2 years before i got a gameboy. My brother got donkey kong and i got mr. Game and watch catching oil drops. I even recognise some of his moves in smash. :')

as a hardcore luigi main, you are 100% god damn right about everything you said about us, the entire time playing him is just cartoon jingles and not even we know what we're doing playing him

Corrin, or at least, the female version, has a *lot* of fans in Japan. Seriously, I've seen a bajillion japanese smash competetors use her as a profile pic and fanart aplenty. Maybe that's also why she's so popular in Heroes, she always places high in their official poll (CYL) and actually “won” (2nd place in females guarantees a special alt) this year's. Outside of them, MKleo the goat of smash LOVES Corrin and Fire Emblem Fates, I remember this because on one of the online tournaments he hosted during the pandemic, he used Corrin against I think a FT10 vs Spargo? Just to prove how much he loves them. And then I remember on twitter someone joked that that they would personally go and become the best and beat him just because they were so offended that he had that opinion lol

Blessed comment, I also think its fair to point out that what someone perceives as “cool” is completely subjective. To me when I first saw Corrin’s design and move-set I thought they were the coolest character I had ever seen. I was extremely depressed around the time their Smash reveal came out, I decided to pick up Fates and tbh I loved the game so much, it helped me out of my depression and nobody can take that away from me.

I only ever played Smash once a year at a friend's birthdays, and still this list is the only one I've ever felt called out on. XD I only ever picked Luigi because I just liked him as a character and loved Mansion, but my playstyle was quite on par as described. lol I never did get into Smash proper. Weirdly it's the only fighting game I ever played that didn't hook me.

As a random man I gotta say, this man's my f**king story teller through and through bro!😂😂😂
