Cocteau Twins was a Scottish rock band active from 1979 to 1997. They were formed in Grangemouth by Robin Guthrie (guitars, drum machine) and Will Heggie (bass), adding Elizabeth Fraser (vocals) in 1981 and replacing Heggie with multi-instrumentalist Simon Raymonde in 1983. The group earned critical praise for their ethereal, effects-laden sound and the soprano vocals of Fraser, whose lyrics often eschew any recognisable language. They pioneered the 1980s alternative subgenre of dream pop.

@@JohnM... ...I was 11- now 48. I still listen to their music daily. As bizarre as life is nowadays, I take great comfort in knowing some of the younger generations do actually realize that genX'ers didn't sit around binge listing to enya.
Cocteau Twins is literally magic.
I remember seeing them in 1994 here in Portland, and Liz went totally wild with her singing. They had like eight people on stage, and the three friends I went with all fell asleep.

I saw them in '96 in Atlanta at 9mo pregnant. I won the tickets the day of, being so caught up in pregnancy I didn't even realize they were on tour despite having been listening to M&K on repeat since its March release. A friend of my sons father called him to ask him if he'd remembered correctly that I was a fan and gave him an Atl. radio station number to give me to call because the band was in the studio doing a fan quiz giveaway. I was so nervous that I wouldn't get through but I did!! I got to talk with Elizabeth herself and answered the question correctly and WON two tickets. I'm in NEFL so we had to just jump in the car and GO! We made it to the venue before the doors opened and because I was hugely pregnant the security let is right in. Once in we got to catch the end of soundcheck I suppose and Elizabeth noticed me being only 4'11'' and fully pregnant and let me set up a chair in between the barricade and the stage RIGHT IN FRONT of her. I don't know if perhaps the pregnancy hormones had an impact on my experience but I wept tears of pure ecstasy throughout their performance. And it was the best live performance I've ever heard after many years of listening to live recordings that just pale in comparison. Haha, my share is soooo long even somewhat truncated but when I read that your friends FELL ASLEEP O_O.. I just had to share my experience with you~ my fellow Treasure seeker

I like the first lady singing. Her voice is beautiful...and, REAL. Beautiful.
The timeless beauty of Elizabeth Frasers voice....something to behold

Monseratt Caballe was amazing, especially when she did her duet with Freddie Mercury!
Cocteau Twins 4eva.🔥🔥🔥
The opera from which this aria ("O mio babbino caro" ) is from is hilarious. It's called "Gianni Schicchi".
Cocteau twins forever and ever
Cocteau Twins ar3 on another level.
Brilliant! I saw them live in 1993 at the Roseland balltoom in NYC for the Four Calendar Cafe tour.
I LOVE the Cocteau Twins!!!🎉😂❤❤❤❤
Many would roast her, and in the most admirable fashion. I suppose there's more than a little distinction between spit-roasting someone and roasting them on a spit

you can definitely thank digital age tech or the internet for that. music made by obscure bands/artists from either past or present is alot more accessible now for the majority of people who live with technology regardless of age, country, social class or cultural background.

Don't know enough about opera to determine if Fraser had the equal chops of the best of that genre. Wouldn't surprise me if she did. Best singer of all other genres? Almost certainly.
You really like the Cocteau Twins? They were amazing back in '86 when I first got their album, Pink Opaque.

@@TheIanoTube ... Some people just want to make anything into a divisive issue. How dare people actually notice or comment or have interest in another persons ethnicity or culture. I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume -brokenequip- will consider it racist to mention Faye Wong as being a artist who helped popularize CT in countries like Taiwan, China and, I would speculate other Asiatic countries as well. Its not racist to be interested in peoples cultural and life experiences as they may vary to our own. Sharing our differences in experiences allows us to bond and recognize our likenesses which is so very valuable. It's disheartening that the powers that be what to strip us of our desires to connect and experience compassion for one another and people like this brownshirt actually promote and attempt to proliferate these divisive and nihilistic ideologies.
