Cocteau Twins was a Scottish rock band active from 1979 to 1997. They were formed in Grangemouth by Robin Guthrie (guitars, drum machine) and Will Heggie (bass), adding Elizabeth Fraser (vocals) in 1981 and replacing Heggie with multi-instrumentalist Simon Raymonde in 1983. The group earned critical praise for their ethereal, effects-laden sound and the soprano vocals of Fraser, whose lyrics often eschew any recognisable language. They pioneered the 1980s alternative subgenre of dream pop.

I saw them in '96 in Atlanta at 9mo pregnant. I won the tickets the day of, being so caught up in pregnancy I didn't even realize they were on tour despite having been listening to M&K on repeat since its March release. A friend of my sons father called him to ask him if he'd remembered correctly that I was a fan and gave him an Atl. radio station number to give me to call because the band was in the studio doing a fan quiz giveaway. I was so nervous that I wouldn't get through but I did!! I got to talk with Elizabeth herself and answered the question correctly and WON two tickets. I'm in NEFL so we had to just jump in the car and GO! We made it to the venue before the doors opened and because I was hugely pregnant the security let is right in. Once in we got to catch the end of soundcheck I suppose and Elizabeth noticed me being only 4'11'' and fully pregnant and let me set up a chair in between the barricade and the stage RIGHT IN FRONT of her. I don't know if perhaps the pregnancy hormones had an impact on my experience but I wept tears of pure ecstasy throughout their performance. And it was the best live performance I've ever heard after many years of listening to live recordings that just pale in comparison. Haha, my share is soooo long even somewhat truncated but when I read that your friends FELL ASLEEP O_O.. I just had to share my experience with you~ my fellow Treasure seeker

@@TheIanoTube ... Some people just want to make anything into a divisive issue. How dare people actually notice or comment or have interest in another persons ethnicity or culture. I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume -brokenequip- will consider it racist to mention Faye Wong as being a artist who helped popularize CT in countries like Taiwan, China and, I would speculate other Asiatic countries as well. Its not racist to be interested in peoples cultural and life experiences as they may vary to our own. Sharing our differences in experiences allows us to bond and recognize our likenesses which is so very valuable. It's disheartening that the powers that be what to strip us of our desires to connect and experience compassion for one another and people like this brownshirt actually promote and attempt to proliferate these divisive and nihilistic ideologies.
