    The light bars are great and they don’t really take anything away from the look of the Jimny. Always nice when you get sent quality gear that actually compliments your vehicle. Your video just confirms how nice the Jimny really is and how good a job Suzuki did with it. I’ve been watching some of the new Defender release “reviews”. Not a fan of the looks initially (it might grow on me) and disappointed with the over use of electronics. What do you think? Keep up the great content!👍

    Another awesome video. i just love lights haha, if it wasn't for south african traffic police that's so damn strict in some places my thar would be full of lights. And its a cool feeling testing your newly fitted lights in a really dark remote place.

    Looks great and works brilliantly. As Marlon Forbes mentions, the legalities are vague although the law is quite specific with restrictions on height above ground, number of lights etc, the problem is that it doesnt seem to be applied uniformly in South Africa with some police in some areas drawing fines and confiscations and others not mentioning anything

  • @RoamOverlanding

    @RoamOverlanding

    Yeah it is a major issue. I’m aware that the law states it’s illegal, so I’ll be building a custom metal cover that will cap off the lights on the roofrack. Then when I know I’ll be offroad for extended periods of time I can remove it and use it there. The law states that these lights are illegal “on road” but offroad it’s fine 👍🏻 so an easy to remove cover to me seems to check the correct boxes. With the lights being wired to a separate switch, they will be completely unengaged until the cover is off and they are necessary offroad

    Should have gone with round lights... IDK vintage. Orange color buttons don't hurt your night vision as bad by the way, bluelight is absolutely terrible for it. That's why red and orange are so often used in automotive lighting. If possible you might want to go back.

    What happened to your new roof top tent? Have you decided to abandon the idea of mounting a RTT on the Jimny? If you have and still want an easy to set up tent, take a look at the OzTent RV3, RV4, or RV5. They call it the 30 second tent for a good reason.

    I am currently planning an overland trip across South America, spanning at least 2 years. I have been budgeting for a used Land Cruiser, but this little Suzuki is looking quite interesting and very affordable - and the Suzuki dealerships in South America are selling them. Do you think this would be a competitive alternative to a 10-year-old (can't afford a new Land Cruiser) J70 (the boxy ones)?

    They are great! Small enough to not restrict your airflow to the engine; but also strong enough to really help out at night. They are the same brightness as the high beams I find but just a wider spread; so used in conjunction with the high beams; they give you pretty incredible light!

    Hello and thank you for this great video! I hesitate to take MX140 from Osram for my Defender. Looking at the site, I think I saw that there are two positions, classic lights (the white rectangle at the top) and the spots (the bottom part). In your video, it seems that when you turn on your headlights only the bottom part lights up, it's voluntary?
