Yes, all the horse drawn stage coaches making their way across the plains, it's like the feeling you get when you're in Colorado Springs many many years ago. Making their way to up and over the Rockie Mountains. I hear they've developed even more of those open plains.

Roaming free as ?Bison intended to be! The colors of the hills are beautiful with black specks slowly grazing. That must have been the scene the Indians approached from over the hills for the fall hunt before winter when the tribe would move south. What joy to see this! Thanks to you who have a dedication to raise and care for these magnificent animals from our history.

Reminds of when my parents took us to Yellowstone NP, we would go through SD Badlands, Black Hills and Custer State Park to see the Bison herds. Very beautiful country

AS A KID (40 some yrs ago lol) THERE WAS A PLAC BY MIAMI OKLAHOMA CALLED THE BUFFALO RANCH. TOTAL TOURIST TRAP BUT FOR A KID I LOVED IT. THEY HAD A BISON WITH HEREFORD COLORING. THE BUILD, HORNS AND EVERYTHING LOOKED 100 % BISON EXCEPT WHITE FACE AND RED BODY.

I imagine this is part of what my grandmother's anchestors saw. There weren't the numbers near Pine Ridge when I was a child. Thank you for posting. 🦬💖

They don't seem to be bothered by the drone at all. Do they use drones to monitor the herd? Looking at the herd brings questions to my mind. Bison are social but do they stay in the same general group within the larger herd? how many mating bulls are in a herd of that size? Do they have friends they stay close to? Are there folks in the animal behavior field that study the social dynamics of herd animals? It's a magnificent sight and it's wonderful the species was saved from extinction. It was a close call.
