Nils really is a top notch Powermetal vocalist. In Amaranthe he obviously can't shine with the main focus on Elize and GG6. With Dynazty however, oh man! Well crafted, steel solid Powermetal and Nils really shining, yet not outshining the other musicians. You/We should definitely check out some Dynazty, worth it for sure.

I think its more of a time share thing then anything. BOOM doesn't have Elize hardly and she isn't on stage live during it. I bet on the next Amaranthe album he's got things more his flavor.

Nils is Fantastic singer, his songs with Dynazty (his original band) are amazing and is totally different from Amaranthe you should definitely check them out. (although I'm a big fan of Amaranthe their songs are not for everyone and could be hit or miss), plus Nils was (or is) kinda the third string vocalist in Amaranthe and didn't really shine in his first album with them, he was much more of the fit with them in their second album together and much better utilize in that album and less like a third string, in his first album with the band he was just recently join the band and the songs were not really mesh with his style given that they were written for another singer originally (imo he is much better vocalist than the band original male singer). Plus Nils have amazing Whitesnake, Queen and Dio covers that really show his range as a singer. btw That's the general problem with perception of Amaranthe members, they are all amazing musicians but because of their style, it not that clear in the first glance, their style is not something that hit with you immediately (given the popish style of some of their songs), you kinda have get use to it and give them time , in my personal experience they get much more enjoyable after few listens. (Sorry the comment got kinda rambly)

I went into this song expecting epic. Expectations were exceeded. Had the chorus stuck in my head since i heard it. "I even realize that I may have been drastically undervaluing Nils Moilin's vocal ability" Oh brother, you have no idea. The guy really is THAT good. Aside from one really epic note in "Boom" he's somewhat slumming it in Amaranthe. The singles they release at least do not really suit powerhouse vocal moments in many ways. I actually listened to a few Amaranthe live performances and realised hell, he's actually better live than he is on the record. That's when the idea popped into my head that vocally he would suit Queen songs. So I searched and that's when I found that performance of "The Show Must Go On" that I told you about. Talk about ask and ye shall receive.

Love it! So glad you've finally found these guys! I mentioned it (late) on you interview with Melissa and Adrian, but there's another German band you should give a listen. "Enemy Inside". They are on similar tracks right now, just having released their second record also. REALLY good stuff, and like Ad Infinitum, not really well known yet in the US, but will gain traction too. Also, another female fronted band. Nastassja is amazing, though different (think more Amy Lee?). Give "Lullaby" a watch for some gear, "Angel's Suicide" for (early) live, or "Dark Skies" if you want some unplugged. Edit: There's also a collab with Georg Neuhauser from Serenity called "Doorway to Salvation". Don't think there's a vid yet, but it's amazing too.

Nils has a great harmonic quality to his voice that I don't quite know how to describe. It's why he does so well in collab and multi-vocalist projects like this and Amaranthe, and it's the same kind of quality that made Marko Hietala great with Nightwish. It's almost a shame, because he shines as a solo vocalist too.

Hello. Nils was a great choice for Ad Infinitum´s first official collaboration as their voices sound together really well. It was not totally unexpected as Melissa´s significant other is Amaranthe´s drummer. And now, Elizabeth reacted to Ad Infintum, as well, yay. Sadly, I was not able to go to, at least, one of their live concerts, even though they were in my homecountry. Hopefully, I will have more free time when they make an appearance here next time. I know you reacted to Band-Maid, Lovebites, Doll$Boxx and Babymetal. And I would like to introduce you to another band of a similar kind (or a supergroup). It is called Nemophila and had been founded only a few months before the virus reared its ugly head. They have not released a full-length album yet, but there is an EP. They made a number of covers to retain people´s attention over past months. However, I would consider it unfair to expect something from you and not to give anything in return; and therefore, I tried to gather as much information about each member´s gear as possible (see below). This was the first single that the band released and so I suppose it is a good place to begin: 「OIRAN」(KZread ver.) / NEMOPHILA or if you want to chill out with more of carefree hard rock tune, then there is (the song itself ends around 4 min´s mark): 【Original】NEMOPHILA / FIGHTER スタジオ演奏♪ *Mayu* is the vocalist. *Tamu* is the drummer, whose drum set is Tama Silverstar (Jet Blue Burtst) with the S.L.P. series snare (chestnut) and Meinl cymbals. *Haraguchi* is the bassist and she played Bacchus Universe BJB5-700 5 string Jazz Bass with some custom modifications in earlier videos. Her new one is Sadowsky Metroline RV5 5 String Bass (TRD/W. Pearl). She seems to be partial to using Ampeg equipment as far as amps and speaker cabinets are concerned. I noticed two set-ups: SVT-CL+SVT-810E and SVT-3PRO+SVT-410HLF(?) *Hazuki* is now recognized by Ibanez as one of their artists. I have seen two of their guitars in her hands so far. These models are: IBANEZ RGDR4327-NTF and slightly customized Ibanez j.custom RG8527Z. There were also three ESP guitars. One of these was a 7-string guitar - ESP M-Seven Original Series Titan Metal. And two basically identical (except for color) 6-string ESP guitars in customized configuration (or, at least, I was unable to find any other ESP guitars that look like them). She uses Kemper Profiling Rack amp (+Roland GFC-50 MIDI Foot Controller)+Marshall DSL40C; Marshall 2551AV; MARSHALL 1960A. She also works together with child guitar-playing prodigy Li-sa-X. *Saki* is the other guitarist and she plays Killer guitars exclusively. I have seen four of them so far. Currently, it is her signature model that gets all of the love - KG-Fascinator Seven the Empress. You can also often see her playing a significantly modified KG-Fascist Vice Seven model (different colors, different pickups, an added pickguard with a customized design), or, at least, that is I think it is, to be fair. The other two are modified KG-Prime original 2015 (with a different neck and red active EMG pickups; colors) and modified KG-Fascist Grave Stone (EMG active pickups and different paintjob). She uses AXE-FX III Fractal (+MFC-101) combined with Marshall Custom Shop Tattoo Range Emily Wood JVM410H & 1960A Stack Bundle. I don´t think I ever saw her playing that KG Fascist Grave Stone guitar with Nemophila, but I did see her doing so with her second band Mary´s Blood, which is also quite interesting, to be honest.

I'm with you all the way on harsh vocals, they have their place but too many people think it's cool to love harsh vocals from a female vocalist whenever they're used. Maybe it's some 'strong woman challenging gender roles' thing, or just 'harsh is more edgy and cool' mentality, I dunno. For me they have to compliment the song and be used sparingly and correctly. Often Melissa's growls are subtly layered in the background without overpowering her clean and it sounds awesome. In 'Ding' with Feuershwanz her growls hit hard at an intensity crescendo in the song and they were in short, sharp beats and added force to the song. When growls are just added for the hell of it regardless of the overall song intensity it sounds forced, needless and an unwelcome break from melodic clean vocals.

Melissa Bonny is the only only female vocalist I regularly listen to. I really just don't like female vocalists in general but I can't get enough of this band. She and the rest of Ad Infinitum are one of my favorites to listen to now. And I meant no disrespect to female vocalists. It's just my own musical tastes I'm talking about. Thanks for another great video Tank.

I get where you're coming from. When I was younger I didn't necessarily latch onto any bands with female vocalists, but as I get older I've really started enjoying female fronted bands a ton. Some of my favorites right now are Ad Infinitum, The Agonist, Nightwish, Spiritbox, Jinjer, and a handful of others.

I always was a fan of female singers, starting back in the days with Jefferson Airplane, then later Heart, Renaissance .. and since the end of the 90s early 2000s when all the symphonic metal bands came up like Nightwish, Edenbridge, Within Temptation, Epica and so on i nearly only hear female fronted band, if i'm not going back to my old favorites like Yes, Genesis, Marillion and so on. And my favorites from what i discoverd in the last 2 years actually are Lovebites and Ad Infinitum.

No wonder you liked that bridge into no-solo so much - it's rather Transcendence, isn't it! Totally agree about the overexcitement for the harsh female vocals:, as they often don't seem to be worth it, when the cleans are so much more distinctive and offer so much more satisfying contrast to the music, at least to my taste . Seems to work best when the singer can do both well and finds the right balance, Melissa being a great example...

I think Amaranthe are just a little bit too sugary sweet for Nils to really thrive in that band. Dynasty's last album, The Dark Delight from 2020, is simply awesome!. I don't know what it is about Amaranthe, but it NEVER feels like credit is given to all members equally. I already said it in the TDSOTM video about Morten and its the same with Nils. They shine in such projects and can finally show off their skills. Kinda funny that you Tank dont seem to like Nils parts in Amaranthe too much. For me its exactly the other way. I really like his voice but I sometimes struggle with Henriks parts

They just released a new video last week, and there's even some gear to talk about: kzread.info/dash/bejne/dYaqq8GKYsTWetI.html

You mostly repeated what i already wrote quite some times in comments about Melissas clean voice against harsh vocals. Rage of Light for example really wasn't my thing because too much harsh vocals and i was soo happy when she started Ad Infinitum and only used that very rarely for a special effect and not only to show that she can do it. In the end we all know it know and don't need it in our face all the time. For Amaranth .. its a bit like with the harsh vocals, i mostly just wanna here Elize and the male vocals mostly just annoy me especially if the get more time than Elize. I found it so funny when i saw a comment at a video from "Metalite" where somebody wrote : Thats how Amaranth could be without male vocals. Oh yeah .. check out Metalite 😄🤘🏼
