    Lovely video as always, I have two questions. What were the "pink" trees about 11 minutes in? and what do the flashing amber lights mean at the junction around the 10 minute mark?

  • @504RoadTrips

    @504RoadTrips

    7 жыл бұрын

    Andrew Leader the flashing amber is just a caution light. Traffic on the crossing road would have a flashing red light, which is basically a stop sign (and probably has a stop sign planted in the ground as well). The lights don't change colors like a traffic signal would. They usually put these in when two numbered highways intersect, but traffic is never heavy enough to warrant a regular signal. Looking at the video on my tiny phone screen, I'm going to guess that the pink trees were Crepe Myrtles in bloom. It was about the right time of year for that.

    It does. There is a segment from I-20 to I-220 that is not complete. Then it goes to the Arkansas state line.

  • @billwilson-es5yn

    @@cromwellj That western segment is to continue south of I-20 to connect with TX Highway 96 as a feeder to US 59 / I-69. Texas got their side done long ago and is waiting on Louisiana to get off their duffs to complete their part. Shreveport has been holding it up by refusing to bulldoze the route thru ghetto neighborhoods.

    @@billwilson-es5yn Actually Louisiana has nothing to do with Texas. I-49 is complete to Arkansas. Louisiana does not border Texas anywhere near I-49.

  • @billwilson-es5yn

    @billwilson-es5yn

    @@cromwellj It is part of the I-49 & I-20 & I-69 planned routes. Louisiana is too cheap to complete their segment of it. I-49 was a joke after its completion. The US DOT gave the state money to mow the median yet it wasn't done so weeds grew so tall that drivers couldn't see traffic on the opposite lanes. That led to deaths when drivers couldn't see out of control vehicles flying thru the weeds to suddenly appear flying out to hit them head-on or spinning out in front of them. The Feds forced the state DOT to cut that crap with the weeds growing back tall again. The Feds probably gave Louisiana the money to build that spur only for it to disappear into politicians pockets. Senator John Kennedy probably got his cut of the action since he was state treasurer at the time.
