Hey heeey. First QnA session after 5 years. About time I think. Go easy on me, I'm a bit rusty.
I'm diving into a Q&A session, sharing insights into my current journey with NEILA. We'll be exploring the vast landscapes of Australia together, and I'm excited to answer some of your questions from Instagram.
Here is what we're talking about:
My return to Australia:
I needed ease in my life, a place to exhale amidst chaos. Returning to Australia felt like coming home, where I understand the culture, language, and operation. Plus, having family nearby adds to the comfort. And now, my dream of traversing Australia in a Troop Carrier is unfolding unexpectedly.
How I got into the 4wd world:
Three years ago, I laid eyes on a LandCruiser and was captivated. Fast forward to today, and it's become my adventure companion. While I may not fit the traditional off-road enthusiast mold, this car facilitates my outdoor escapades seamlessly.
What does freedom mean to me:
The concept of freedom has been my obsession, and I've realized it's a state of mind. It's about feeling free, regardless of circumstances. Now, I'm channeling my energy into creative endeavors and building the Free Human community.
Let's talk passive income:
Speaking of income streams, it's all about leverage for me. I focus on brand deals and passive income from investments. But the real secret is finding ways to increase the value of your skills without trading time for money.
How is the planning for my Aussie lap coming along:
Navigating the world of off-road driving has been a whirlwind. From understanding car parts to accessorizing, it's been a steep learning curve. But I'm determined to master it.
Relationships VS long term travel:
Relationships on the road have their challenges, but finding someone who shares your values is key. Loneliness can creep in, but building a community of like-minded individuals helps alleviate that.
Time stamps:
0:00-00:46 - Intro
00:47-2:44 - How is it being back in Oz?
2:45-4:25 - How did you get into the 4wd world?

5:59- 7:01 - How are you truly doing?
7:02-8:29 - Pros and Cons of NEILA
8:30-10:05 - Do I miss iceland?
10:06-10:53 - Has having fun gotten easier?
10:54-12:13 - How do you take the leap into becoming a free human?
12:14-14:22 What are my income streams to be able to live so freely?
14:23- 15:10 - How’s planning for your Aussie lap going?
15:11-16:04 - What’s your opinion about freedom vs long-term stable relationships?

I've been watching nearly all your videos since I was 14. You got me into the advanced selfie concept. And now I'm 23😭 sometimes it feels like time has passed so quickly and I've lost the person I used to be. But I still love watching your videos and seeing your change and growth. It's a good reminder that things happen in life. We change. We grow up. But that doesn't mean that we become any less of who we used to be. I guess I feel overwhelmed by the idea that I am getting too late. Due to peer pressure maybe. Everyone seems to be getting married, in relationships, and I've started to feel like I've missed out on that young romance that leads to a wonderful marriage. When we're young we have all those dreams and plans, but when the time comes and things don't go the way we wanted them to, we feel like our story has ended. But it's important to remind ourselves that there's so much more to life. I look at your videos and think, look u can be utterly happy and experience life to the fullest even by being single. One day Sorelle will find her person and it will be proof that not only 17-18 year olds can have that type of "story" that they show in movies and books. Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you for the video. You are such an inspiration. I'm feeling a bit sad today and your videos remind me that my whole life is ahead of me. And I have big dreams which I should strongly believe in. Everything will fall into place perfectly in the right time❤

Things don't just fall into place at the "right" time, but also when you least expect it, generally when you've let go of wanting things to turn out a certain way, they then suddenly do, and often it's kinda inconvenient when the thing you hoped might happen does happen. So you then have to realise that the inconvenient timing which might make it hard to roll with the thing or take advantage of an opportunity, is actually the "right" time. You'll get there :) 23 is just the beginning of so many adventures.

I’m 20 in a few months and f I really felt this, thank you. I am behind on many “milestones” of being our age and it’s feels so weird. But your right out lives don’t end when we are twenty, in reality it starts again. Our generation is obsessed with time and sometimes we need to step away from that and realize that sometimes time isn’t always everything.

@@abbytheredwolf174 Hey Abby, and good morning from cold southern Australia to wherever you are :) that's a great attitude! Life happens in chapters. Some of them are only a few years long like primary or high school, or uni or an apprenticeship. Some of them are a decade long simply because we mark time and others things in arbitrary groups of ten and so we *feel* different when we have a particular birthday. That's also a sign to ourselves of our shifting mindset, and choosing to be a renewed version of ourselves when an event or milestone happens - Sorelle has done that several times. Chapters in our work and personal and activity lives overlap with different and sometimes inconvenient start and end times. They're all opportunities to look at what we've done and who we are and say "I'm going to try being like *this* for a few years and see how it pans out". That experience then leads to the next. Best wishes to you!

@@davidr7236 thank you for this I really appreciate it. It’s been hard and everything now and then I let myself slump but try to get back up and remember that the sun will rise. It’s a goal of mine to take any and everything opportunities available to me and run with them. I don’t know where I want to go and what I want for myself so it’s been hard to have motivation and remember what I’ve already over come and what I am capable of. I hope that you have a wonderful day, I’m going to screen shot this because it’s a good reminder for me.

I hope more and more people look at what has been up to now as beautiful contrast for guidance and step into the empowerment of focusing on their preferences and visions they carry deep in their hearts. I think this might be where real change starts happening❤‍🔥

Sorelle, Ive grown to love your life philosophy over the year. And something that irks me to my core is the magnifying lens on your identity Philosophically, I am also a free human being - free from the shackles of the narrative that tells me how oppressed I am as a black native woman. Free from the conventional 9-5. And free to live life on my own terms. I don’t own a home, I’m not rich, I’m not retired. I travel between my hometown in Alaska, WA, Cali. I went to my friends wedding in Mexico. I’m learning to cold water surf here in the PNW. I’m a stay at home mom by choice. I’m a licensed massage therapist that allows me an amazing income that lets me work whenever I want, if I want. And I’m in love with my amazing blue-collared husband. You inspired me to pick up photography to diversify my streams of income for my family. I don’t know the reality of your life, but I do know my own. I am privileged to be alive, free, and free thinking. All that said, Keep being you, I love it 🖤🌀🤌

I’ve read a lot of comments asking you to stamp PRIVILEGED across your forehead as a way to assure us viewers that you’re a free human because you’re a pretty, fit, white girl whose only skill is in having rich parents and humor From my bias point of view, I think it’s… distasteful. I know Mexican lineman that buy ridiculous rigs, native women that travel the world… a lot of unattractive broke white girls with rich fisherman dads Your uniqueness and work ethic is a solid credential to where you’re at in life, as is mine IMO

You're going to love this part of your life! I'm an adventurous photographer who is always exploring, and seeing all the beautiful thing's. Though I am unfortunately based in one place and do all my branching our from there. Lots of weekend road trips and 2 too 3 week adventures living on the road. I absolutely love it. Though I will tell you that 12 months is a tight schedule to do a round trip of Australian, and that's usually a coastal trip. From what I've seen of Australia, inland and country Australia is just as beautiful and filled with more hidden gems than I can pock a stick at. My journey so far has been nothing short of amazing. I'd honestly suggest up to 3 years going around Australia. You could zig zag a lot of it, from coast to just off the coast and back out again, that alone would be a 2 year run. Though unfortunately I haven't been able to find a love who is able to join me on my adventures, so it's been a solo journey for me. But man, building my 4wd rig was one of the best things I ever did. Australia is indeed beautiful and I have a list longer than my arm lol

It is so cool to see you enjoy the spaces of yourself that you have been discovering and finally playing with, once again, and allowing yourself to allow and have it [these familiar joys with simplicity and basics, perhaps, in the ways we all once felt when the world felt still as the winds would brush itself through the spaces left between the leaves and branches, when we played with our pets as equals and laughter became of it, or we had seen the world as one phat playground all for us to explore and play in]. When I saw the part of this clip where you brought into form what you have been learning to create [seriously, so cool...I cant wait to learn to sew...even if I just tell someone what to do and how I like it, which I like far better any way, super exciting for me to try soon, and it makes me feel so happy that you are doing it because like...I get it and I see you as clear as I can see, presently. I had a feeling that your last video were pants you wore that you had made, seriously so dope] it brought me to an epiphany I was experiencing, clearly, just, I think today or yesterday, fairly recent...the recognizing of how much of one's life can be easily driven inaccurately simply from underdeveloped skills learned, or not learned, inaccurately (not one is exempt from experiences with deficiencies of any kind, our ancestry, not one). Learning business and marketing, learning my lineage, learning how to sharpen up on psyche, and furthering my own curiosities (being brave or courageous even when I feel the least bit supported) has been teaching me a lot about patterns, behaviors, and various other "weak-spots", experienced from the framework of the "foundation" I was given and that I potentially had continued [I have been thinking about depreciation, foundation, support, quality, value, worth]. Like...I am just now getting into the habit of creating (things I have yet to be able to experience freely or intentionally, with my support in place, like, 6 months ago I did not realize the quality of my own support in the way that I am realizing the quality now), walking myself through tar, or sludge, for beliefs and various other issues I did not yet realize [like today's other epiphany was how so many generations have carried on the unresolved issues that kids, puppies, any being young in spirit and in heart before joy, and play, and freedom, became "trained away" in order to compensate for what is not being/feeling supported, accurately...I am learning how to solve my own problems, ah, there we go. I have never done that before...not in the way that I am intentionally doing it, with the quality of support that I have been watching me give, create, and be intentional with, for me these days]...the whole idea of products, valuing yourself, supporting yourself, and realizing that you never actually had to work for anyone, or anything, gabagool blah, stuff. lol. Solving problems when support is necessary has been an interesting thing to think about.

Regarding the one person calling you "Privileged" You clearly resonate with that one way or another. Whether you haven't acknowledged it (personally) for yourself (as in noticed and gave thanks for the hand you were dealt) or you've just been beating yourself up/way too hard on yourself and feel like you should be doing more/further along in life. If people were calling you obese I doubt it would be getting to you (making an IG post + multiple stories about it etc.) in the same way. You know you're not. And your perception would have to be incredibly distorted to think you were. I had to dig through the mounds and mounds of pure positive praise to even find the ONE (out of 78) comments saying you are privileged. Personally that's (labeling someone as privileged) never even something that remotely crosses my mind when watching people online. But the attributes that person stated (that you have) are beneficial in society. So it's not like they are wrong. Simply being a female grants people an absolutely insane advantage over men when it comes to garnering attention online. The bar for what a women has to do to achieve attention literally could not be any lower. Some women tap their iPhones, sleep and consistently rake in money and views. (Obviously you provide more value than that) With that said, (in your case) anyone who brings up privilege: 1. Hasn't been following your journey at all and therefore doesn't know the slightest thing about you AND 2. Is simply calling you that as an excuse for them to feel better about their own lives (i.e by calling you privileged they are essentially patting themselves on the head and telling themselves "It's ok that you aren't in Sorelle's position. You weren't born into the same circumstances as her so just keep wallowing in your pity as you continue to make excuses for yourself 🙃) On top of that you've obviously worked very hard (to say the least) to get where you are and you've even documented it to help others (and of course it acts as proof as well). Two things can coexist. You can be privileged and be incredibly hard working. It's not like you handpicked your genes, parents, traits etc. before birth. You choosing to make the most out of the cards you were dealt does not diminish what you've accomplished. But maybe you need to tell yourself that first. If someone is choosing to see what you've accomplished through a "She's so lucky" lens. Then they clearly and genuinely DON'T want to better themselves. They want to stay at the level they're at in life and would rather make excuses than make any effort to grow.

Absolutely love it, I hope we cross paths one day! but I live my life in the moment and whatever is meant to be is what is, as I find living in the flow state to be the only way I stay in my favorite state internally :)

Yes, get out of the rent trap. Paying nearly 3k a month for a condo box is outrageous, very difficult to get ahead that way. I recently said goodbye to city life (I can always visit,) and am catching up quick with a minimalistic (but not?) life in the country.

It's quite strange when you thank us for being with you on your journey :D Sometimes I feel it is little bit like when you read some good and long book and you love it, you need to see how it goes but in the same moment you are afraid that you will reach the end and you will have to leave your favouite hero. I really don't know, how long I am following you on youtube :D I remember time when you shaved your head, when you travel the world, move to iceland, has a creative crisis... so... it is definitley long time :D So... lets take it from another side. (probably from side od quite big amout of people here on your chanel) Thank you for doing videos and bring us with you! I hope that the joy from creation stick with you and this "book" will never end :D

i often wonder this too and there is so many stories, even going off the main roads without a winch just goes to show maybe we are all just a little bit paranoid or over protective to our environments

She'll have less need of either kind of protection now she's in Australia, it's remarkably safe for solo travel and the dangerous critters are generally scared of big clunky humans making noise as they pass by, even quiet dainty humans like Sorelle.

I totally agree with you on trading your time for money, only do that if you are forced to ,like if nothing else is working. Have you tried tropical? Is winter encroaching on Australia already. I can't imagine you wanting to go back to Iceland or surfing in that frigid weather , that's worse than it gets here probably worse than it gets in the northern states, maybe not , I would like to go somewhere tropical for the winter not somewhere colder. I'm glad you are still in good spirits , I think you have a lively dynamic personality, it's really weird when you get in one of your down moods .

Why does it feel like I have been on the same boat in regards of feeling lost for the last couple of years and only feeling like I'm on the right path since a short time now. Is it the generation we are living in? Is it the changes since corona times that allowed us to refocus and finally focus on our true values? In any case thanks for sharing your thoughts and feelings!
