I own a '13 xts luxury with 27k miles and loaded with options. I bought it used and saved a bundle. That being said, it is one of the nicest cars I've owned in a while! I was leery of the V-6 but it has plenty of power(especially after I swapped the factory air filter for a K&N high air-flow)! Handles great too. Great luxurious interior, great styling, I am really enjoying this car!

+Eugene Romano I'm looking to get a used one too..but I wanted to ask you..how is it over bad roads and pot holes? I want a big car that floats over bad roads..you know..like the old fashioned Caddy's used to do? I currently drive a Mercedes Bens S Class and I'm really unhappy with the ride. I just want a soft ride again. Will the XTS give that to me?

Get a base DTS with 17 inch rims if you're looking for a land yacht. The XTS is very good but they're putting huge rims on them and don't have the rubber to glide over road imperfections like the last 2 models before it

@@Nightbird. I know I'm later af here but I had an XTS; had all the features but the turbo. This was my experience: If left out of sport mode, the ride was comfortable and even floaty. In sport mode, you had the advantage of manually selecting the gears (though I made the mistake of lugging it in 6th up a few hills a couple times and found out myself that it did NOT have the stump ripping torque of Cadillacs of Yore, but that's what happens when you go from a big v8 to a natty v6). So yeah, you get to choose between a sportier suspension and more control or a more lazy ride fit for a sunday drive. I liked it. Drove it from 68k to 87k and had no problems that were the fault of the vehicle itself besides the dodgy CUE.

I own three Mercedes here in Europe, and a Ferrari, but in the last years every time I came to the States I'd rent a XTS. Quiet, comfortable, competent on the road, and stylish. The Bose noise-cancelling system was incredible. I'm so sad the XTS was discontinued. They got harder and harder to find. Last time I flew into LAX I had to put up with a Lexus.

A Lexus? You are silly. Lexus made the finest reliable cars in the late 90s through 2006. I own an 05 LS and it doesn’t break down. I own a Lexus LS 2011 and it’s also good. Cadillac is also good but that v6 engine isn’t enough. Needs a v8.

@@Edward-tp5nc I'm not silly and I'm not against Lexus. In fact I'm on a waiting list for the new LBX for my wife, if we're lucky we'll get in in September. That said, the ES 350 Hybrid that I got instead of the XTS, at the same price, was a delusion. No comparison in terms of features (not even a nav!!) and the buzz of the 2.5 liter four + CVT was particulary annoying on mountain roads.

I come from Europe and love BMW 5 series and its Idrive etc. BUT, this Caddy really got me drooling - it looks like really striking luxurious yacht, it has excellent CUE and dashboard - sumptuous leather interior that just draws you to get inside - I hope to see them more over here - it would really stand out among the sea of it`s European class siblings - I would certainly love to own one and hopefully I will :)

The highlights here are the ease of use, great MPG on regular fuel, magnetic ride adjustment, room, and features. And seeing they're using the 3.6 V-6 it should prove reliable. $45K sure! $60K I think is a little high. Although I'm sure you'll be able to get good deals pretty soon.

It's not a sport sedan to compare with the German and Japanese rivals, think of the XTS as a comfortable, luxurious cruiser with a slight-performance side. This Caddy isn't designed to thrill, it's designed to soothe... and some like soothers while others like thrillers. If you want a Cadillac to thrill, get an CTS-V.

The CUE system can be updated thru the internet. So the CUE can be updated which can be operated better. The XTS should do well in sales for the month of August. Can't wait to see sales numbers. The car does not have a direct competitor from Europe or Asia. The car competes directly with Lincoln MKS & should compete with it 100% when the twin-turbo V6 becomes available. And for as pricing on the car is concerned, I'm not understanding why people complaining that the car is $60,000........

Don't know if you've settled this yet, my sons both purchased xts sedans. One, a 2013, the other, a 2018. Both are solid, dependable, luxurious cars. The only issues thus far have been both with the 2013. The cue screen is problematic due to a poor design from gm- it is well documented on the internet. The second issue was oil leak from timing cover, and one rear strut. Luckily, the car still carried the factory extended warranty, so all issues were covered. The 2018 has been flawless, I rented one for a cross country trip last year, and was stunned by the ride, performance, comfort, and fuel economy these cars offer. I drive a pickup as my daily driver so that's what I'm used to, but these xts cars are very nice and very dependable in my experience.

I love Cadillac but I'm not crazy about any newer Cadillac. I drive a 2005 Deville and its everything that I want a Cadillac to be. Big, fast, powerful and still good looking and distinctly Cadillac. Its very hard to determine any brand as they all look the same and none of them have any style what so ever. I don't care what the other foreign brands are doing. All I care about is what Ford and GM are doing. They need to stick with making big cars like they always did. And Ford needs to bring back the Crown Victoria, Marquis and Town Car!!!

Nearly $60k here in Canada and it's FWD and underpowered for the class. Cadillac always does an "almost good" job on their cars. It's just like when they released the Seville in 92 with the Northstar motor, tons of smooth power but they route the power to the front wheels and install a 4 speed auto instead of a 5 speed which competitors were using at the time. Samething with the new CTS, great car but with horrid seats which was a deal breaker for me.

Nice cars but I still prefer the older Cadillac's like the Deville, Seville, Eldorado and the DTS and STS. Cadillac's are meant to have V8 engines and not V6 engines. Some people claim why go V8 when the V6 produces just as much power?? Because the V6 cannot produce the sound of a V8 engine!! Cadillac's have always had V8 engines and they should still remain so. The Northstar 32 Valve DOHC was an excellent performance V8 and is still my choice for the newer Cadillac's. I drive a 2005 Deville as my daily driver and I'm very happy with it as its everything I wanted in a true luxury car. FWD is also better than RWD in regards to having better traction on wet and slippery roads and not easily spinning out and loosing control you you would in a RWD car. The european brands can do whatever they want, but all I care about is what GM and Ford is doing. They need to continue making big luxury cars like they always did.

Jim Cole I have family that worked at GM/Cadillac in Michigan. My family always owned Cadillac's and we have all Cadillac's currently. The Northstar V8 is my favorite engine by Cadillac which was a complete success being produced for 20 years and in many other GM cars. I never get tired of hearing a V8 and will always drive a V8. Not crazy about much of the newer cars and mainly Cadillac's. They may be nice to some people but honestly they are not selling like they were even 10 years ago. Cadillac is having a tough time reaching production numbers like they were back during the 80s, 90s and early 2000s. And I agree the new cars are not user friendly at all! The interior is very confusing and distracting to the driver and passengers. I prefer the older cars with fewer buttons and knowing where everything is without having to look down constantly.

It's very common knowledge that making a vehicle FWD makes the tires up fron work harder giving LESS safety and traction in dangerous situations. Having RWD is actually much easier to save in dangerous situations then FWD. ONLY IF you can actually drive a car, which 99% of people can't so they listen to these BS lies their parents and car companies taught them. Instead of going out and teaching people how to drive, just lie to them about what's safer..... Car companies my FWD cars for 2 reasons. 1: It's cheaper to do. more profits so it's a no brainer. 2: WHEN you do crash, in FWD you always go straight and crash. In a RWD car you can spin around which is scarier for the driver and passenger!!! If you are going to crash, it don't matter FWD or RWD most people are gonna crash in that situation. Having a crash be less scary is ALWAYS a good thing. Repeat customers don't like when it was WAY scarier in their car then a competitor's car. So don't spread lies about FWD. Also the Caddy is not as good as the Germans. Its a good car, just not the same. FWD Also sucks, it does not feel as well balanced or nice to drive as RWD. There is a reason all expensive cars are RWD or AWD. FWD feels cheap..... because it is cheap.

Raymond Newbill Thanks for all that information. But I still prefer FWD over RWD myself. The only Cadillac that I currently have that is RWD is a 1961 Cadillac Fleetwood sedan which is sweet. But I do prefer driving my FWD Cadillac's for different reasons and GM and Ford both did a great job with there FWD design. Cadillac's are great cars and are right up there with the big luxury brands as they always have been since 1902. And it was both Cadillac and Oldsmobile that brought FWD out and made it different as new technology for the 1966 Toronado and 1967 Eldorado and it was very well received as it is today. And it is nice to have a variety for different drivers who prefer RWD and FWD cars. And Cadillac offers both for those customers.

They have never been with the big luxury brands. They were more budget luxury cars. MAYBE in 2016 the Escalade is closing the gap because it's very nice inside. But for 2016, Mercedes REDIFINED luxury. Crawl into the NICEST car Cadillac makes. Over 100k I'm sure. Then climb into a loaded up Eclass of the same price. Its a whole different world man!!! BMW will be doing a full redesign in the next few years too. BMW is still nicer inside, crawl into a loaded 100k 650i Grand Coupe. The interior just feels so much more modern and expensive then any Cadillac. And once they do their redesign, it will be on par with Mercedes. Cadillac makes very nice comfy cars. They just compete with cars like Lexus and Infinity, Acura. Not the big boys.

The nice thing about these Caddy's is that since they devaluate so quickly..if you want a Platinum XTS you should be able to buy a pre-owned one in about a year for the price of a new base model. And the bad thing is..when your ready to sell it or trade it in..they won't give you hardly anything for it..lol.

I'd rather have the quattro, then all the power isn't just going to the front wheels, which also have do the steering. At least with 4wd you spread the power out to all the wheels.

Too much chrome. Too many trim options. It should just be sold as a luxury car and not have a "base" model option. Mercedes and BMW don't have a plastic steering wheel option neither should Cadillac.

No I have not driven it but It just reeks of cost-saving... Why design a suspension system to cope with torque steer when there is already a solution- rear wheel drive? All the top luxury cars use RWD: 7 series, S-class or on the higher end Rolls-Royce and Bentley. Hondas and Toyotas use FWD. Is it really appropriate for a luxury car?

Ummm...this doesn't compete with the large luxury sedans, like the Lexus LS, Mercedes S, BMW 7, Jaguar XJ, Audi A8, etc. The only thing this competes with is the Lexus ES, and with the new ES Hybrid mixed with Lexus being the #1 most reliable car on earth, it manages to fail horribly at that as well -.- Also, will someone please tell GM that Chrome makes a car look ugly. With that much "bling," one must seriously question who their target audience is; I don't think young black males is it...

First, the Lexus ES does not compete with this vehicle, the GS does... This vehicle competes with as stated the Lexus GS, Audi A6, Benz E Class, BMW 5 Series & Jag XF all of which are mid size luxury sedans. Tho the XTS is bigger than all of them & is considered to be more of a full size sedan since it's about the same size as a BMW 7 series yet it competes with mid size rivals.

@@MrDare2bdifferent "the Lexus ES does not compete with this vehicle, the GS does". Wrong. This, and the ES are both FWD based platforms. The only thing this shares with the GS, is that he GS was sadly discontinued too.

@@NeutralGenericUser so I don't know if you read my message but I said it does not compete with the ES... And yes the XTS & ES are both FWD, but they are two totally different vehicles. The XTS competes with the GS. Audi is FWD yet competes with others who are RWD like Benz, BMW, Jag etc...

  • @NeutralGenericUser

    @NeutralGenericUser

@@MrDare2bdifferent I did read your message, and I disagree that the XTS competes with the GS. I maintain that it competes with the ES, as a primarily FWD car. The Audi differs from both in that 1) its engine is longitudinally mounted, rather transversely mounted, and 2) by default, it sends more power to the rear wheels. The XTS and ES (as well as the former Acura RL) are primarily FWD cars capable of sending some power to the rear wheels when slip is detected, either through a driveshaft (ES, XTS), or rear motors (RL).
