    I like this car, but the GT500, you just can't ignore it. Next year they are going to have 1 up them with 670hp.

    John Harker...did you actually say the Chevy Small Block is antiquated? Please learn the difference between long-lived and antiquated. No DOHC keeps center of gravity low and I'm not sure but have the Chevy v8s EVER lacked for power? Yes, the new GT500has much more "tech" in the engine...makes it NO better...both cars are great and I'd be proud to own either. But I'll hold out for another Z06. Sold my 2001 when I went to grad school and have yet to get a good enough effing job to get my next one

    lol the zl1 has won all comparison tests with the gt500. the ford maybe faster in a straight line but the Chevy is the better all around car. both are awesome though for the record.

    Your are right AWD is the way to go. The Big 3 already have AWD drivetrains in their standard vehicles. why not make an AWD high performance vehicle.

    The 2013 Shelby poops on this. Then afterwards destroys it with its 662 hp while doing a quarter mile at 11.6(motortrend)

    AWD would be a significant game changer if you consider to what hieghts the mustang or camaro (could be) given there current power output and a new chassis to better suit the new components. But america really has to re-learn how to build sports cars, which it actually has little 'production' experience. The only two bonified sports cars built as sportscar from chassis on up is the corvette and viper. the mustang and camaro has suffered from duel agenda manufacturing.

    So what is wrong with evolving? I'm pretty darn sure that most performane vehicles where not just one day running under eight minutes on the nurburgring. They evolved from cars who just made a good impression on the public and manufactures took it to the next step. How is F1 going to improve US? I honestly want to hear this. Do you honestly think that Nascar does nothing for us? I could care less about Nascar, but because of it GM and Chrysler have some mean and efficient engines.

    two problems with it, or with me is that A. it's like driving a post office box and B. 580 HP you can't really USE it on the road like my srt8 challenger 392. I can use about 60-70% of the power in my car, and the top speed is the same 180mph, but is anyone really going to do that? maybe 10% of the people that buy them for that purpose? don't get me wrong it's a awesome car like the GT500. but I think it's just a BIT out of most peoples price range well at least here in canada...

    The ZL1 looks better than that stupid Ford any day of the week. 662hp or not, I'd rather have a ZL1 over a GT500 because they put a lot more development into it. Doesn't the GT500 still have a solid axle?!

    Cars that are built to cover several niche markets and becomes watered down in the process. Ford continuously did that with the mustang, for a time (before focus and fusion) not having vehicles to cover the small youth family market. Now its unnecessary. so come 2015 the all new mustang SHOULD be a serious sports car uncompromising. Same with the camaro. Just as long as 'muscle era' is no longer the goal. No one wants a straight line only car anymore. at least no one in there right mind.

    the zl1 in another vid goes 0-60 in 3.8 sec and both manual and auto run 11.9's. IMO there is no way the gt500 will b that fast! too much power and no tire!

    American ingenuity???!!! Its not that it didnt once exist, and current exist in the aviation industry and computers but as far as automotive, it died back in the 50's, back when we actually designed and made cars with a purpose. Sure, your probably thinking what about the muscle car era 60's.. well, I seem to recall most 'muscle-cars' were in fact Family sedans rebadged with larger engine options. Today we need real racing like F1 to improve our auto tech. And no Nascar gives nothing tech wise

  • @xevious2501
    @xevious250112 жыл бұрын

    This is why both the Mustang and Camaro have to improve dramaticly. There not in equal competition with those big dollar rivals, (unless you go with Tuner variants like Roush Saleen, who rebuilds the car from ground up to be all it can be -so to speak-) Dont think litely of those cars either, Saleen and Roush have done miracles with mustangs and not camaros. But its the yesteryear musclecar characteristics that hurts the car today, and why both need a complete redo to truly be competitive.

    ZL1= World class, cutting edge suspension, brakes/antiquated engine and horrible fuel economy. 2013 GT500= World class engine/hp, awesome fuel economy for what it is, sub par brakes(compaired to the ZL1) antiquated suspension/rear end. Combine the best elements from both and the U.S. would have a world beating super car.

  • @xevious2501
    @xevious250112 жыл бұрын

    The Camaro is a harkening back to the boomers Joy era 60's, with far more performance than anything put out back then. Is there room today for a modern musclecar? Sure. the real REAL truth is todays modern musclar is cars like the GTR. THe original muscle cars (family sedans with performance options) were the poor mans supercar. Cars that out performed big dollar porsche ferraris and vettes. In equal grounds that kinda car today would be a GTR. not a camaro or mustang.

    yeah and you will be crying that the zl1 beat its ass because the gt500 cant put the power to the ground! the zl1 is the best muscle car on the market hands down, you dont need to go 200mph so there is not point in making a car that will! The zl1 will be better at everything!
