"There might be some swearing" Don't worry, we couldn't hear it. Christ Almighty, what they must have been like to drive and operate day to day, the noise, heat, vibration and the heavy steering. Fatiguing is not the word. Absolute respect to those men, and to you for keeping this bit of the great industrial heritage of the British nation alive.

Would not want to arm wrestle a daily driver!!

Imagine having to wrestle that thing down washed out and rutted gravel roads or cobblestone roads at the turn of the 20th. Drivers must have been shook to pieces at the end of the day from being thrown around the cab.

What was you cooking John ☺. Steering at low speed looks bloody hard work, even though the steering wheel diameter is massive, great job to you both. Ettingshall was less than two miles from where I grew up. Thanks for sharing and best regards from the Black Country.

Active Atom : I'm going to show you my Model Builder's Geek side. The Sentinel was built pre WWII and was still being produced into the late 50's. They were used as heavy hauler, as long as you didn't exceed the frame load limit, the Sentinel could haul it. Since England didn't have it's own oil supply it development this technology. (I live in coal country and we never thought of developing this technology) Although I've been to England twice, it was always under military supervision and we didn't get t ime to look arround. I've always been interested in the Sentinel design but the books are big on stories and little on details. Some day I will design and build a working model of one, but before that happens I'll need some of your watch making skills.

The bloke on the bridge has n idea how close he came. It gets up a decent speed when downhill, I bet that stopping distance is on a par with a oil tanker. Gradley !.
