Road Glide 3 Test Ride

#usaonharley #roadglide #trike
A biter-sweet video today. One one hand, we are excited to test ride something different: a Road Glide 3, a trike... On the other hand though, this will be our last clip for this season 2023. We headed to Ellington, CT to visit our friends at Old School Harley Davidson and, as usual, we got a chance to test ride a bike only this time it was a three-wheeler! Something MJ had been requesting for a while and well... mixed feelings, it is a sweet machine but also hard to ride. It takes a lot of strength and upper body muscles, the turns are wild and the passenger keeps moving from side to side (this model had no backrest). So, if you want to see us out of our comfort zone, watch this review. Enjoy!

The Freewheeler, RG3, and Tri Glide Ultra are the only true trikes while the others are Kits. As for the Ride, there are suspension mods that can soften or ease it. The reverse is handy But if you’re capable, the RG3 and Freewheeler can easily be moved without using reverse as long as your on level ground.

@USAonHarley ..Thanks brother..I'm not gonna lie,I'm a little nervous and may take some baby steps before I fully put it out on the open highway..I'm making a huge step up from a smaller and my first bike(a harley 750) to this beast of a machine..My local dealership have some sweet deals going at this time being that I took the rider safety course thru them,so wish me luck lol

You get used to it quickly. We got the Freewheeler a few weeks before the RG3 came out. They’re the same machine except for the Shark Nose faring. They’re great for longer rides because it’s really easy.

@@guyh.4121 this was a short ride for the review.. around 30 miles…. If we wanted to go further on a long trip we probably have had to ride more before the trip… but we adapted quickly, that’s true 😉

How do you like the "feature" that: when in traffic at a red light turning green and you accidentally stall, that the brakes have to be applied in order to restart, instead of a rolling restart. It sounds stupidly dangerous to me.

  • @USAonHarley

I don’t know exactly what do you mean… we didn’t stall the bike at all… so we didn’t have to follow that sequence… sorry we can not help, but yes it sounds good.

    @@USAonHarley I know you didn't stall.

The reason you stall isn’t the trikes fault. If you do stall, put it in neutral and it starts in a second, or apply front brake and you can start it in gear, with the clutch engaged of course, unless you want to stall again.

  • @frankfurther3828

@@guyh.4121 Of course it's the rider's fault. It's a dumb feature and a deal breaker. And when the bikes behind start binding up and bumping, or a car taps you, it can be the designer's fault.

@@frankfurther3828 ..maybe if you don’t know how to quickly fix the problem you caused, then maybe 2 or 3 wheels aren’t for you. Just don’t hop in a car with a manual transmission because the same thing can happen.
