Roach Reflections - Part 34 - Groundbait Considerations
Спорт
I'm a great fan of certain groundbait mixes for roach fishing on the rivers, especially a mix of Sensas Gros Gardons and brown crumb but other options can also work and I discuss them here. Liquidised (blended) and mashed bread also have their place and should be considered. Sticking to just one groundbait method isn't always the best option. On my local rivers, the Dorset Stour and Hampshire Avon, knowledge of the options can boost your catches.
My second roach book, Big Roach 2, is still available from calmproductions.com

My pleasure!
Benwick Sports sell a medium brown crumb that is certainly more coarse than the others I've tried.

I buy my groundbait mail order but of course until you receive it you don't know what it's like.
Good morning Mark Any bait if it’s bread is good for silvers, I find Sensas Brown Crumb is best I have found not to fine and I often add a little ground bait to firm it up. With liquidised bread I often add a little bran to get a white cloud in the water or a little powdered milk works a treat.
RIP Hutch.

He was quite a character.
Make your own brown ...so easy Copra and molasses, soil and liquidised oat meal sticky it up.......so easy
Thanks for another informative video Mark. Do you ever use any additives mixed in with your groundbait like hemp, molasses or the specific groundbait flavours or additives that are available in tackle shops?

I have used crushed hemp and PV1 but generally I don't bother.
Even blend your GB to get it right. White bread dried and blended is a killer on shallow venues. Your right in what your say though. My advice........bet a blender:) Take an assortment of blended bread to the situation and use copra, ground seeds.
Mark Great video, what mix is best on a clear stillwater gravel pit approx 9ft deep for roach

It's not a type of water I fish much. I would tend to only loose-feed but one of the dark specialist roach groundbaits would be worth a try. That's the great thing about fishing - there's always scope to experiment to find out what works.

Not had any for a few years but caught quite a few over the decades; summer fishing at Wareham used to turn up a some, and later the tidal Stour/Christchurch Harbour was my favourite place for them.
