Үй жануарлары мен аңдар
Last week i had a bunch of question around how my RO/DI filter is setup and what all the vales do.. Today we dig into an explanation of what it all does and learn how to get the maximum amount of life out of your filters!

Sweet upgrades!
Great video
Awesome tips, thank you!!
Your source water is so clean!! My first RODI setup in the Chicago area had 450 TDS coming in....STL is about 220. I was changing cartridges a lot, lol.

great info. Thanks
Nice job👍🏾👍🏾
I appreciate the tips - For I am about to setup my RODI unit. Question - instead of all the Y and ball valves, couldn't you just use two 3-way ball valves....one before the membrane to flush new carbon cartridges, and one after the membrane for drinking water and to alleviate TDS creep?
Nice walk through :) I just doubled up my membranes for faster filling. Your feed tds is 54 !!!! we have 450 +++

Awesome video! Right after I was talking about my ro system as well lol. I need to get some t valves n such. I go through so much resin. Hopefully this helps. I have high TDS to start with. I do have a flush valve for TDS creep but never flushed the carbon. Was in back of my mind but wasn't sure if I should put something before the membrane to rinse or just use the flush valve. Gained some much needed info thanks!

Your most welcome! happy to hear it helped!
Hey dev yea it is messing up around 3:55 on multi devices, not sure must have been a compression and processing error. Might try some of the flush valves while I can get my TDS to 0 or 1 from well water at 680-710 I do go through a lot of resins. I have even changed to a separated resin system and it is definitely the anion that gets eaten up fast. Going to add a booster pump I think see if that helps.
Thanks for that much appreciated 👍🏻

any single line diagram including all the TDS meter etc? thanks
Also I am running a booster and I run around 80 psi with the pump
Anyone have thoughts on using 5 micron vs 1 micron filters?
Is is possible to just hand wash the Carbon filters before install?
thank you so much for this video you cover everything im looking for!!! my psi was only 40 and I thou maybe its time to change the di filter~ lol

Its a good time of year.. ihave seen mine up to 200-300 ish with the spring runoff.. (which i guess is still good)_
Reefdudes, which one is better? Spectrapure vs Aquafx?
Could you split the end product water to go into two containers both with float valves? If one float valve closed off would it still let the other container continue to fill?

Lolz Are the best do you mean the one to flush off the tds creep pre DI?
TDS of 60ish would sure be nice. Most areas have 200+ TDS . Mine is over 300 TDS. I'm running dual membranes in the water saver configuration and still get a TDS out of the membrane of 12-15 TDS after a 2 minute flush.
@ReefDudes

most are 95-98% rejection rate so you can only filter out soo much! so about 6-15 is what i would expect from it

Haha it’s good most of the year except spring run off the it shoots up for a month or so. Should come with instructions. Just goes in line of 2 or the hoses
Is water supposed to just sit in the resin filters while not in use?

Yep no issue there
I'm running a booster pump at 80psi after the prefilters/before the RO and still only getting 4ppm out of a brand new RO. My DI only lasts about 50 gallons before it exhausts, and I'm blaming high CO2....any ideas on building a space saving and efficient degassing chamber or something similar?
@ReefDudes

4tds should eat though DI that fast Do I would test for Chloramine in your water as it may be eating up your filters and if so you may need those special carbon Blocks

@@ReefDudes did you ever made schematic for this I’m totally lost 😅🤣 could really use your help I have no one here for help I’m spending way to much money on water from the fish store
so after your carbon filter you have a 'T' which tees off to waste ( clear tubing) which you use to manage TDS creep, but you also that grey 2 way valve that you use to flush the carbon filter to waste. Don't these two do exactly the same function? Both just dump water from the carbon filter to waste, why do you need both?
@ReefDudes
4 жыл бұрын
Michael Firth the carbon one is before the membrane and only for new carbon blocks. The other for tds creep is pretty DI which is after the membrane and I sue that before each use
For some reason I’m unable to see the full video please advise.

Man I dont quite get how your di lasts so long? My water out the tap is about 78tds, I have a .5micron, then 2 carbon blocks. The. 2 stages of ro membranes. Then into di, which is only one canister. My unit is the brs waters saver 150 per day. I get about 100 gallons of 0tds oit of a canister.? Man I'm lost if your going that far. I always flush prior to uses, but maybe I need to do.sumtin? Flushing pre DI before i use the water gets rid of the TDS creep and makes them last ages! Key to long DI life
