And here we are in 2021 and Twiggy is still doing it....
Oh what happy memories of listening to my fave pirate radio stations. These disc jocks became friends to me over the air only. Absolutely loved Andy Archer and the Twiggy Day
The jamming certainly wiped out reception in the Channel Islands, thankfully the short wave frequencies came through very well.
Loved to listen to RNI when I was a pupil / student.
Ah very pleasant memories brought back through this short film so very well done
Thank you for this, it was the first offshore station i found. The start of a great adventure for me.
If it wasn’t for pirate radio, we’d still be listening to the home service. It’s only because the Government made it illegal to transmit that they introduced crappy BBC radio 1 and 2 as an alternative.
Got to love those pop pirates... my favourite came later, Lazer 558.
Great station much missed......nice to hear Les Ross's dulcet tones too!

A very interesting film And didn't the ship's paintwork look beautiful, before it got a bit rusty.
You can tell that the 'interference' to the coastguard radio was fake. The audio of RNI was quite clearly not coming out on his radio - it was added later in post production on that report. It was not even MW bandwidth sounding, another thing that gave away that it was not RNI on his distress frequencies.

Quite right Mark, the pirate stations at that time operated on frequencies in the medium wave broadcast band. They did not operate on maritime frequencies or frequencies allocated for distress and coastguard use.
Great video
It's a little surprising to see Hughie Green in this video as he was better known as a game show and talent show host, but presumably he was in a company bidding for a commercial radio contract.
Mit Wehmut erinnere ich mich an meine Zeiten der DDR zurück, da dieser Sender für mich die Freiheit bedeutete!
The operator at the coastguard station was talking a load of utter rubbish.

Quite right I fully agree, read my other reply to Mark Starr
✌️🤠💥🌟🌀👍
I had to laugh at all to total Bollox the "authorities" spoke about RNI causing interference. And still today they still talk utter crap lying to the public yet again. The offshore pirate stations were absolutely brilliant. 73.G7HFS/PA3IKH
That coastguard is telling lies as the harmonics if any would not have interfered with the freq they used to contact lifeboats etc and to prove the point the jamming of the pirate signal would have also rendered the coast guard freq totally useless .......
