What people say about Canada is true: - Bilinguals are native French-speakers. - Monolinguals are native English-speakers (just like the Unitedstatians).

That's largely false for most of Quebec. Anywhere outside of Montreal and Quebec City are traditionally French and people simply do not speak english.

According to the census, only 7% of English Canadians can speak French while half of French Canadians can speak English... More people can speak French in the Netherlands, in Germany and Italy and yet, none of these countries is officially Francophone.
