RLI - Right Lifted Increase in Knitting
Welcome to The Blue Mouse Knits! Today I will be teaching you how to knit the Right Lifted Increase, abbreviated as RLI. Learn to work the Right Lifted Increase which is abbreviated as RLI. This is the most invisible increase I have found out of all the ones I have tried, it's so quick and great for sweaters because you can barely see it. I've switch over to using this for all of my yoke sweaters and things like that!

So glad to hear it, that sounds like a wonderful project :)
Oh! I had to think about it, but you made a good point. Though the stitch following the increase is joined to the lifted increase, it is counted as a separate stitch. In the treasury of knitting book there was no name giving for this increase. It had a long explanation and for ease of illustration, the following stitch was included in the whole unit, and then a k2 (continuing on the pattern). Otherwise it would have been written as RLI, K3.
Thank you so so much 🙏🏻 This was really clear and so well explained. I have watched a couple of other tutorials on this and I was just left confused. Not any longer 😊

This is what my pattern says: RLI, knit to wrap Is the “knit to wrap” just continuing to knit like you showed, or is it a separate step?

Are you doing short rows? It sounds like you knit normally until you reach the wrap from wrap and turn short rows.

* @The Blue* Mouse Knits I am doing short rows (sorry, very new to knitting and trying to understand my pattern before I cast on). Here is the start of the pattern (I was wondering about row 2 and the knit to wrap section): SHORT ROWS: row 1: (RS): k8 (8, 9, 10) [10, 10, 10], w&t (WS): p to end row 2: (RS): k1, RLI, k to wrap, pick up wrap and work tog with that st, k7 (7, 8, 9) [9, 9, 9], w&t (1 st inc) (WS): p to end row 3: rep row 2 (1 st inc)
Right Lift increase goes down 1 stitch and Left lift increase goes Dow 2 stitches? Help is my understanding correct?

Hi, yes! That is because a RLI is worked before you knit the stitch. And a LLI is worked after you knit the stitch so another row has been added by the time you work that increase. Hope that makes sense.
