First, I HIGHLY doubt the price will be raised. If they did, they would probably lose out on ANY future sales, as the HotRC version (HotRC is the actual manufacturer, and sells it under their own model name, CT-8A, ie. Rlaarlo only removes the 'dash' from the model name) sells for the same as Rlaarlo's 'sale' price. Second, as many have already discovered, do NOT use rechargeable AA batteries, as they do NOT provide the minimal voltage needed. While Duracell & Energizer AA batteries are a "good" option, 2S LiPo is a "better" option, and an 18650 Lithium-Ion is the "best" option...plus, you can internally charge an 18650, via the CT8A's USB-C port. However, there are two things of extreme importance to note about going with the 18650 option, neither of which appears to have been covered in any of the videos I've seen. First, make certain to get a 'protected' 18650, as a standard (ie. unprotected) 18650 could, potentially, damage the radio's electronics...not saying it will, only that it could. While industrial-grade electronics have built-in protection, consumer-grade electronics do not. Second, in ordering an 18650, make sure you order batteries with the correct Amperage output. 18650 batteries are available with Amperage as low as 2.75A, and as high as 40A...too low, and the radio might not power up (similar to the problem those trying to use rechargeable AAs have discovered). More importantly, too high, and you could fry the radio's electronics. Unfortunately, as I have not even ordered mine, I do NOT know what the correct Amperage should be. If someone having already received their CT8A can go though the manual, and comment as to what the correct Amperage should be, I'm sure all CT8A owners (current & future) will greatly appreciate it. Speaking of using an 18650, over the other two power options, this can also give you another advantage. In using an 18650, the lower battery compartment becomes an "empty space"...perfect for placing something heavy in. Why would anyone want to do that? The radio is probably top-heavy...and, by utilizing that "empty space", and placing something heavy (and non-conductive) in it, you can not only give the radio better top-bottom balance, you can also provide a more stable way of placing the radio on a table/floor/etc, with the radio remaining upright (ie. it will no longer "fall over"). I am contacting Rlaarlo, in order to find out...if I find out before someone else comments, I will edit my comment to include the info.

I got this on Amazon, the HotRC version, with two receivers and a 2s lipo for $50. Great radio, i do wanna point out that if your servo trim is set to more than 75% in one direction (my servo horn is kinda f*cked that way) then your gyro will not function until you adjust your trim to a lower setting. I'm not sure why this is, by my gyro worked fine until i had to replace my servo saver with a wonky one that tilts and needs trim to be adjusted massively. Other than that, a great transmitter \ receiver combo. I was a little disappointed that the gyro is worse than Arrma AVC, but i really should've expected that. Gyro isn't terrible, but is noticeably twitchier than AVC, and really, having to adjust gain on the gyro digitally thru a menu is fiddly compared to a nice physical dial\knob. But i understand that with all the available functions on the remote, it needed a screen so it wouldn't have had 8 million knobs. Good range, the wheel for the screen navigation is kinda funky, sometimes if you don't scroll it from the sides of the dial, it'll scroll really slowly. Using the center of the dial (on my unit) causes it to sometimes scroll the opposite direction halfway. It's hard to describe. Get used to it's quirks, and its a great deal. Much better than my SLT3

UPDATE #1: This first update had to do with using AA batteries (I still plan on doing a second update, related to the 18650 Amperage requirement). The 'cause' of the radio not constantly & properly powering up when using AA batteries appears to have been discovered. I don't have 1st-hand confirmation on thi...but, one person discovered & reported it, and a few others have reported back that it fixed the "problem" on their radio as well. Evidently, people on the assembly line at HotRC didn't properly solder the wiring on the AA battery box. I don't know the specifics (since I still haven't received mine...but, it is ordered)...but, based on what others have said, it sounds as if the wiring was done in such a way that, on a number of the AA battery boxes, the radio might only be receiving power from 2 (instead of 4) of the AAs. My suggestion to anyone running into the "radio won't power up" problem when using AA batteries is, remove the battery box from the radio, and check ALL of the wiring & solder connections...make sure everything in the 'in-series' chain is wired, and soldered, properly. And, of/when you find any mis-wired/soldered connections, resolder them correctly yourself. As a few other have reported, this resolved the problem.

@@Murphys_Law9 Yes, I've received it. Unfortunately, still haven't had time to test it. I've been busy working on some 1:28 scale cars, most notably the new MRT-EVO from RC Atomic.

UPDATE #2: This is the update related to using an 18650, as well as 18650 vs 2S LiPo. Starting with the 18650 Amperage matter, as determined by someone else with the proper testing equipment. the CT8A appears to only be drawing 0.2mA at 'idle', and up to 300mA under use...so, it seems safe to say, a 18650 with 2.75A should work. And, as for anything higher (ie. the maximum Amperage), any 18650 can be used. Just as a motor will only 'pull' what it needs from the ESC, or how an ESC will only 'pull' how many Amps it needs from a battery, the radio will only 'pull' what it needs. Thus, any 18650 should work. However, while using an 18650 will give you the advantage of charging the battery while inside the radio, a 2S LiPo is going to be a better way of powering the radio. The 18650 is a single cell, thus 3.7V nominal & 4.2V maximum. On the other hand, a 2S LiPo will provide 7.4V nominal & 8.4V maximum...meaning that, as both discharge, if comparing a 3000mAh 18650 to a 2200mAh 2S LiPo (a larger LiPo will probably fit), the LiPo will provide power greater than it's minimum operating voltage for a longer period of time. Additionally, as such, the whole "what Amperage" question if the 18650 becomes moot. Case closed? Lol

Use 4 1.5volt aa's.... the 1.2v don't work too well from what I herd.. mines in the mail should be getting it in the next few days.... This will be my first bought transmitter... justbstarted my rc Hobbie this year... and this thing is looking like a must buy for a good cheap noobie controller ... I'm a little hyped over getting it!

How does that make sense? it runs on a 18650 battery that has a nominal voltage of 3.7 volts! 4 1.2 rechargeable AA have a nominal voltage of 4.8 volts! & a 2S Lipo has a nominal voltage of 8.4 volts! this makes no sense to me.........................🤔

If anyone reads this after getting this it's an ok remote but the company is trash. They don't know how to put information up on their site. I bought a different set of receivers that don't work with this remote and the company won't take anything back that isn't "defective". So no info provided and you're screwed. Terrible business practices. I'd stay away. I'm posting this message on multiple channels so everyone is warned
