The 5 through 8 seeds hosting the first round games is wonderful. You get a genuine home field advantage. And the games could be epic. Let's say, for instance, that this year Alabama goes 9-3 and ends up as the 11 seed and Oregon goes 10-2 and ends up as the 6 seed. I'm a West Coast guy and I've been to Autzen Stadium -- in the mid '90's, when Oregon wasn't a national title contender, for just a plain ol' Pac-10 game between Oregon and my team (Cal.) The place was insane for THAT. Now picture Oregon hosting Alabama in a playoff game. The atmosphere will be beyond description.

I actually like watching Olympic sports just as much, if not more, than watching football. I think the government may need to step in with funding for them -- cut corporate welfare a bit to megacorporations who don't need the money and fund our swimmers and lacrosse players and discus throwers.
