River Waveney Part Three. 3 Day Canoe Trip with Kent Survival.
Welcome back to the third and final instalment of my paddle down the River Waveney with Andy from Kent Survival. After a comfortable and restful nights sleep, we cook breakfast using our meths stoves before hitting the river again and paddling downstream past Geldeston Lock and into the Norfolk Broads to our end point, the town of Beccles. I hope you have enjoyed joining us for our river adventure, thanks for coming along!!

Thanks Simon and Andy for the most relaxing, peaceful and enjoyable 3 parter. To cap it off, you two enjoying an ice cream, bliss, take care all.
Great paddle guys.......thoroughly enjoyed it.
I bet that headwind was compensated for with a "tailwind" following that bean-fuelled breakfast!

Cheers Trev! I agree, in the summer, it’s crazy on the Broads - it’s a miracle more people aren’t hurt with the number of boats crashing into the banks and each other!!! Best time is off season, mid week! Cheers, Simon.
Very cool trip guys!!! I really love seeing what other countries offer in outdoors!!! Brilliant idea you two!!!

Thank you, really glad you enjoyed it! We have limited areas of wilderness in England we have great national parks in some of our mountainous regions and we have exposed moorland like Dartmoor and some great areas of forest but they are pockets of protected land. River trips though can give the impression of being more remote and isolated than you really are, that’s what I love about canoeing! Plus you don’t need to travel far to find a decent river to paddle! Atb, Simon.
Stunning day
What a lovely way to discover something of England. Gee, Simon. If you can take a stove along why not eggs and bacon and a couple of cans of beans. Can't make all that much difference in weight? Or? You could have even made a couple of bread rolls! Bake the bread rolls the night before for breakfast. A tidal river. Can't be that far from the coast then. Fish in the river? Sharks? Giant catfish?( a Nessie?) - Have you done a fishing video? Cheers.
Can’t beat that, finish with an ice cream. Great trip series really enjoyed this.

I actually got to watch the whole series. I enjoyed watching you together. You have so much fun but sometimes I wonder about your food choices. Next time.
I'm really enjoying your channel. I am fascinated with your home dehydrated baked beans, any chance of a tutorial? It might be a good idea to add the water to the beans and just let it sit for about an hour before cooking, or even overnight. You might get a better result and it may take less cooking.

👍 I've said it before, and I'll say it again, such an entertaining series! For me, it's the kind of thing that beats almost everything on TV these days! 😀 Although you might consider it not too different to your videos, I would imagine the two of you could create a very interesting documentary, whether it's 'This is how we KZread' or 'Behind the scenes doing what we enjoy' Cheers! Jim

I'm a new subscriber and I'm checking out all these nice videos. I live in Texas and I was amazed how you can go around the U.K. in various rivers and go along a lot in the U.K. There is no way people do that here in the states. Great videos, and I really enjoyed watching them. I really enjoyed seeing the river traffic and going by the different towns along the river. Well done blokes and Brits!

Great series Simon. Eased my lockdown madness..... however the little boy in me fondly remembers Roger Moore in live & let die, the speedboat chase scene 🙏👏
Great series..thoroughly enjoyed each one. Just started canoeing and after returning from non canoeing visit to the Norfolk broads, really makes me want to do longer or even multi day trips. Just need some more kit and experience. Thanks again for the great content and inspiration.

Awesome 3 day canoe trip, Simon, and very enjoyable it's been too. Both yourself and Andy make an incredible pair for this adventure and altogether it made for exciting watching. You should get together again some time. You've both reminded me of many enjoyable holidays spent on the rivers and broads of Norfolk and Suffolk during the 60's and 70's, such stunning landscapes and for most part gorgeous weather too. What a wonderful 3 day canoe journey. Really enjoyed watching it. I hope you get to do another trip like this in the not to distant future and hopefully one that isn't quite so cluttered with debris at the beginning. That was quite the clogged waterway.

I'm from Lowestoft and know your route very well. Geldeston Lock - as we know it - is an AWESOME pub. The headwind you experienced is directly from the sea and can be a bugger. Beccles is fa's you got..?..! Huh..? You should have been able to get all the way to Oulton Broad. Kayak'd and canoed that many a time. Wouldn't go into that Lido, tbh. Always extremely packed and wasps everywhere..! Enjoyed your series nd thank you very much. :-)

Another enjoyable video. I am amazed you both found your cameras on the other video. Love to explore that area of the world sometime. Thanks. I I am still working at the cooking on the wood stove. If i use a cast Iron pan seems to work great. Try to cook on a grid, not so good. Have burnt the crap out of more than one piece of meat. Haven't given up.
At the start of day three I was thinking 32 miles traveled how the hell are you going to do 32 miles to get back in one day :) Great series of videos guys.

Hahaha - Yes, I was glad we were getting picked up - it was hard enough paddling downstream!! Thank you!
East Anglia is so flat, surely there's not much flow on the river? Four weeks ago, I paddled up the Wye, near Monmouth and took nearly an hour and a half to do one mile. That was damned hard!
@simonablokeinthewoods
6 жыл бұрын
Hahaha - I bet it was! We’ve got nothing to compete with the Wye. You are right all our rivers are gently flowing, the fun bits tend to be the sluices and weirs (when there’s enough water in the river!!) cheers, Simon.

Hey dude Great trip dude must get onto that ...would it be worthwhile taking a portage trolley on this trip if doing it solo as I could never carry my canoe too far as it’s fibre glass construction..cheers again
@simonablokeinthewoods

Thanks buddy, definitely worth using a trolley if you have one - a couple of the portages are too uneven or there are stiles etc, but for most it would save your arms! I have one but decided to cut it from my kit shortlist to save weight - possibly an error of judgement haha! Atb, Simon.
