River Phoenix had a lot of life experience and he so much travel in his little life. He lived a lot.

I always love this video. And breaks my heart when Natalie say untouchable then it shows Mike hugging himself. But every part of this video is edited beautiful. I just love how well sinked up the chorus is. It's so beautiful in heart breaking way.

Your tribute really has me in tears. Natalie Marchant's Song does the rest. The Dark Blood footage is absolutely touching and hurtful. I wished River was still here and graced this earth with his beauty and pure soul.

it's hard not to cry this is a sad video but i really like it & River was so talented and handsome. i wish that he was still here but he's in a much better place!!

Despite what others may say, River really did play a lot of unique and special characters. Some people say that he was tight casts but in his decade long acting career he played young Indy, a gay hustler, a Native American, a prodigy, a country singer, a war veteran, a pizza delivery guy, and others

People thought he was typecast? That's strange - he played such a variety of characters. Each one was different from the last. He was a very talented young man. :)

zzshin / it was a speed bomb, it was quite popular in those days. The trouble was that he had taken a lot of other drugs beforehand, the speed bomb just didn’t help with every other pharmaceutical drug he took

seems like Leo and Ewan McGregor ended up with his roles… but River had an artistic/independent spirit that later actors just lack. I recently rewatched Dog Fight and Running in Empty.

i really want to see Dark Blood and Silent Tongue... i heard River always had a lazy eye and would concentrate on correcting it like in other movie or interviews but he was so subtle at it i never noticed it to start with but anyway in Silent Tongue he doesnt and it is supposed to give him a different look to add to what his character has gone thru

For the same reason many people do, as an escape. He was under a lot of pressure from Hollywood at the time, he was surrounded by bad influences (I don't mean his family). And lastly, many people use drugs to cover up emotional scarring, and one type reigns supreme; sexual abuse. River was abused when he was little by the cult he and his family were apart of 'Children of God'.

Sensitive people do often drugs because they give a higher sense of consciousness. Like you´re connected to God and to everything that exists, only the price for that to pay you leave your body to handle. It´s a no win-win situation cause you don´t give a s**t for yourself as human being. I was also for a long time addicted to pain (I didn´t need drugs to elevate that) because it simply felt divine for me.
