I used to do this with Thoroughbreds. Definitely an excellent way to excersise them without putting pressure on their legs.

That is good exercise for the horse. All horses needs exercise. That wasn't cruel because she didn't make River swim, River walked directly into the pool.

She wasn't washing River. Rivers leg was broken. So that's why she's swimming. So her leg can heal better.

Pam VanWinkle Uh I wasn't saying she was washing washing her, its just an easy way to dunk your horse and get the dust out of the coat. For example washing it. Pretty sure River hasn't broken her leg, she may have fractured it but I haven't heard of it happening to her.

A horse to do a length of that swimming pool is like a full lap canter or gallop work so it’s a lot for them but it builds there stamina and it’s good for there joints just build it slowly and surely never over work them
