@@zedoggie3006 You could ague that the players are more athletic overall now I guess. And I'd counter that the athletic edge is negated due to the softening of the sport. The athletes were HARDER men in the 90s and early 2000s. The game was played more physically. EG literally couldn't play his game today without getting fined out of his game checks every week for lowering various parts if his body as a RB in today's game. Those defenses like BAL that were trying to stop EG couldn't hit him those ways in today's game either. And since men are bigger and faster now, maybe the rule changes are for the best (?) But players from that era, what I grew up watching, were just nasty between the lines.

This rivalry made me fall in love with Baltimore football. The rule changes and greed have sucked that love from me since. Rarely do i finish a game anymore bc it feels like a watered down throwing fest anymore. 1000yds rushing was slowing becoming not enough to deem a back as good. Now its a guy is lucky to be a single featured back for his team and 1000 is a lot again.

I've seen a lot of interviews from these 2 in general and about each other I guess I must've of missed some of this stuff but I never heard Ray Lewis speak of George like that, Ray showed huge respect towards George! I always perceived it as Ray always got the better of him and that's the way he felt. IMO Ray did get him more times than not especially when you include that playoff game. It was cool to hear Ray give him his props ! George was a beast and getting smoked by Ray Lewis doesn't knock him too far down IMO, I mean name a RB or any player that owned Ray?? Joining the cowboys hurt his legacy more than Ray smashing him!

Ray had a better d-line than Eddie had o-line so it wasn't very fair from the start TBH. It was a lot closer than you think, Ray was better all-time but George did get 10% of his career yards from the Ravens alone, above his average per game vs the Ravens so he ate plenty.

@@Jrock420blam George was a beast no doubt! I think he is highly underrated! It's hard to judge players who play different positions obviously, but IMO Lewis was far enough a better player for me to make that statement. Ray Lewis was just a better Football Player undoubtedly. That's not taking anything away from George though, I mean Ray was such a great player shoot there's not very many players in history that I wouldn't make that claim of!
