The rooms are not outdated in my opinion, I have stayed in hotels that needed updating and this is not one of them. Plus every room has a great view and this is the best adults only resort in cancun for the price. I have stayed at nicer resorts, but paid $200 a night more.

This resort is GREAT stayed here back in 2021, 5 STAR!! the only flaw is this resort does not have much oceanfront beach. Other than that its great!

Was there in 2017 and was heading back when covid hit. Definitely going back sometime soon. Great video. Hotel is superb has to be on everyone's to do list.

Do they have a lobster night at the buffet? And other seafood options in the buffet on others nights? Great video!!!

Glad you liked the video. There is no lobster night or big seafood night at the resort. They do have seafood options and lots of fresh fish the chefs prepare daily. Overall the food is very good, but you have to stay at one of the more expensive resorts for lobster. I recently stayed at the Coral Level Iberostar Cancun and they had a seafood night with lobster on Thursday nights.

Headed there in a few weeks.

They are both favorites of mine. The room at the Coral level is better especially with the jacuzzi on the balcony oceanfront, you can not beat that view period. The food at Coral level in main restaurant is better that RIU, but they only have the one, you have to go to the main resort for the al la carte restaurants and they are not as good as RIU. The pool is great at both, with the RIU having more pool space, but the coral level is much more upscale with free cabanas and cushions in the lounge chair. If you want an upscale adults, quite , relaxed atmosphere then Coral level, if you want more people and a sister resort next door with a night club and only 3 blocks from Coco bongo and entertainment center, then the RIU. The beach at RIU is calmer and easily swimmable, beach at Coral level is great, but the waves are a little strong.

Wonderful video… I noticed there were ashtrays in the bar overlooking the beach… is smoking allowed?

The hotel does have designated smoking areas, I would check with the hotel on arrival to make sure. I am not a smoker so not sure. I did not see anyone smoking in non designated areas.

Awsome video and awsome review. I just xame back from riu palace costa mujeres. This is way better and the beach is awsome. So how much did you pay for the package?

The hotel averages around $300 per night and I booked on their website for the best deal. The beach is great and having the use of the sister resort next door gives you plenty of options

The tequila at this resort is mid range, not premium. The waiters do bring drinks to the guests at the beach and they have hamburgers and items beach side during the day. The buffet is only steps from the beach, so nothing is far at this resort.

Any cons to this vs Excellence Riviera Cancun? Do we have to make dinner reservations for all restaurants? Do they serve food and drinks at the beach?

No reservations needed. Waiters serve drinks at the beach. Excellence resort is a better resort overall in comparison , but I prefer the beach at this resort and it's smaller size and location.

No shorts allowed in the A La Carte restaurants at night. No dress code for nightly entertainment. No formal nights. Just bring a couple pair mens dress pants and good to go.

How long does the night time beach party go until? Any place to drink and relax on resort into the late late hours?

The beach party ended around 10pm, it is not every night. The shows and entertainment end around 11pm. There are plenty of clubs within a short taxi ride or 15 minute walk from the resort. Coco Bongo and the main entertainment district is less than 1 mile.

The riu place next door has a disco open until 2a. Walking distance down the beach, don’t even have to use street Yes u. Can eat/drink at Riu next door. But food is far better at PALACE. Only perk in the 2 am thing. I’m thinking evening entertainment ends at 10:30 ( think a low class Vegas type production, some shows better than. Michael Jackson night is my fav

so would you Riu Las Americas is better as far for the beach and food? We been to Riu las americas once and wanted to try to go Riu Kukulkan but i heard the beach water is wavy and can have a lot of seaweed..

I have been to RIU Las Americas twice and I feel the beach is better due to its location helps keep the seaweed out. I have not been to Kukulkan but in reviewing videos it appears that the pools are not as nice with wide open spaces and no palm trees, does not seem as relaxing beach wise. I am sure the food is the same at all RIU resorts, I have stayed at several and they are all the same. My favorite RIU resort in Cancun and Mayan Riveria is Las Americas.

All inclusive, you have a wristband and all bars and restaurants are included. No extra charges

Yes, I have stayed twice at this hotel and had no issues with the water in the restaurants or bars. It is recommended to use bottled water to brush your teeth in Mexico.

There were not any directly in front of the resort, but you could find them within a short walking distance on the beach in either direction, about 100 yards or so.

Not at the hotel, but you can go next door to the sister resort hotel RIU for their night club, you have access to all the restaurants and facilities. 3 minute walk

This resort is good anytime of the year with minimal seaweed issues due to it's location. I usually travel early May and then early December for best rates , fewer crowds and good weather. Spring is also great, but rates higher.

new no smoking laws in all public places, beaches, outdoors etc in Mexico. Only smoke in private home.

Who smokes is a bad place for you Only two unequpped places to smoke Pay money but you can’t rest properly
