Using drugs is a choice, you are right. Nobody forced you to do drugs, it was a decision you made. 100%. BUT - using drugs long term creates changes in the brain that cause a person to experience a variety of symptoms including anxiety, depression, extreme cravings for the substance(s), and more. So sure, using drugs is a choice. But an addicts brain is “diseased” when comparing it to a healthy person who doesn’t use drugs.
