Rita Eriksen - "Glass Onion" ((Live))
Музыка
Live from The White Concert 2009
Writer(s): Lennon John WinstonMcCartney Paul James
"Glass Onion" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles from their 1968 double album The Beatles (also known as the "White Album"). The song was written primarily by John Lennon and credited to Lennon-McCartney. This is the first track on the album to feature Ringo Starr on drums. Starr briefly left the group during recording sessions for the album and was replaced on drums by Paul McCartney on both "Back in the U.S.S.R." and "Dear Prudence". The title, "Glass Onion", was a name suggested by Lennon for The Iveys, a group who signed to Apple in 1968 and later became Badfinger.
Rita Eriksen (born May 26, 1966 at Sola) is a Norwegian singer. She is known as a solo artist and as one half of the roots / country / blues / show duo Eriksen which she poses with her brother Frank Eriksen.
As a solo artist, she had her album debut with Back from Wonderland in 1988. She later released the album Tideland with Irish singer Dolores Keane. Rita Eriksen was also a member of the vocal group Queen Bees together with Anita Skorgan and Hilde Heltberg. In addition, she has collaborated with a number of Norwegian artists and participated as a guest vocalist on several recordings (including Jonas Fjeld, Three Little Chinese and Hellbillies). Of the best known is her contribution on the song "Tir n'a Noir" with Vamp. She has appeared on several released versions of the song and has performed it at a number of Vamp concerts. She is also responsible for the female vocals on the Bjørn Eidsvåg song "Tålt" and the hit "Cloudy Sky". In 1997 Rita Eriksen received the Gammleng Prize in the studio class.

Lyrics: I told you about strawberry fields You know the place where nothing is real Well here's another place you can go Where everything flows. Looking through the bent-backed tulips To see how the other half live Looking through a glass onion. I told you about the walrus and me, man You know we're as close as can be, man Well here's another clue for you all The walrus was Paul. Standing on the cast iron shore, yeah Lady Madonna trying to make ends meet, yeah Looking through the glass onion Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah Looking through the glass onion. I told you about the fool on the hill I tell you man he's living there still Well here's another place you can be Listen to me. Fixing a hole in the ocean Trying to make a dove-tail joint, yeah Looking through a glass onion.

Seems like some kind of Black-tie event,, so is probably Full of mainstream status quo snobs, who can't appreciate something as original and refined as this. They need to be played Celine Dion or something
Really good
John and George would be proud. well played! 10/10

Bullshit. The Beatles would be disgusted with this dreck. Drums are all wrong and the "singing" is cheap.

This was a brilliant approach if I say so myself. The execution was great give or take the lack of a good bass riff. The emotion was really good and energetic. Good timing, Good showmanship, and a beautiful lady to top it off. She was clearly an avid listener of the Beatles. It gives off the vibe that she grew up listening to them and had a nostalgic reference in her memory to this song. Hence the emotion energy in this display.
And the bass???
Super Konzert, super Sängerin!!! Roli
Great cover.
Ten years later and this performance proves it - good musicians cannot save this song with the wrong singer.

You have it totally backwards. The woman's vocals carried the band. Go back to school.

@@allancerf9038Yes, tone deaf and musically obtuse. The lady's vocals were fantastic.
She did a great cover of Glass Onion. The strings at the end were a bit weak. A guitar with fading vibrato would have been more interesting, but I loved her vocals. She made it her own.
I've never seen anything like it before and I think you know what i'm talkin' about. 99% of the audience is wearing White. What's that about? Yeah, I noticed that more than the singer. She clearly has no clue about the song but a good performance.

Lady! You've got a good voice, but beating The beatles is hard, so don't bother trying to beat john's voice. But nice try...😆 - NATASHA ELLIS. 16/7/2019
What a weird Beatles' song choice to cover. Don't get me wrong, I love the song, but Glass onion?!

My guess is that they decided to do a concert that went through all of the White Album ("The White Concert"), so they shrugged and said "Someone's gotta do Wild Honey Pie, and someone's gotta do Glass Onion, or else we're not doing the whole White Album." So this was the best attempt they could forge to turn it into a real rock song.

@@dainmarriott342 www.bubs.com/our-music. If you listen to "A Day in the Life," from their 1996 album, this is one example (off the top of my head) of the sort of thing that could be done. It's a fairly pedestrian rendition until the glisses, where it becomes seemingly impossible.
