Risky opal cutting technique turns out unbelievable.
Sometimes we take risks.
This piece of rough opal is a broken rough opal Nobby that has a very large and/or thick color bar, which makes me think outside the box and go for two gems instead of one. I am taking a risk with this piece because I can't see through it and it could be full of potch, but hey, life is too short to always play it safe. So, I'm going in!

AMAZING! As I sit in the break room at work. I started up this video and I had the volume a little loud and thought I was being bothersome to my co-workers so I turned it down a little bit. Mind you I'm here at work an hour early so I can get something in my stomach that starts at 9pm lol. A quarter way through the video I hear a voice behind me " hey man, can you turn that up a bit? " lol I turn around and all the guys have collected at the table directly behind me 😂 and they're all watching you cut and polish these amazing stones ❤. Thank you for sharing this journey of two amazing gems coming to life ❤. Lol btw, I work at one of the major soda pop companies out there. And to see a bunch of dude's sharing in my geek out session was awesome 😊🫶🏻

@@blackopaldirect Sorry to say this but given the things I've seen on the internet I would recommend not using the word "woke" as it tends to be associated with left-wing extremists here in the US and possibly elsewhere, I'm not sure. I encourage you to do your own research about this since my conclusion may be skewed.
@lisacrandall409
27 күн бұрын
@@engineer84-w8x describing someone as 'woke' means that they are aware and sensitive to the prejudices (based on race, gender, disability, sexual orientation etc) that others face. So in essence, someone who is 'woke' is empathetic - they can put mentally 'walk in someone else's shoes', and they care about injustices that affect others but not themselves. The fact that anyone would consider that being empathetic and alert to injustice makes a person a 'left-wing extremist' is truly mindblowing and very sad to me. It is an indictment on the heartlessness of the social circle that they are in. I do commend you though for your self-awareness that your conclusion may be skewed. Perhaps mine is skewed, too? All I can say is that from my perspective outside of the United States (but as someone who has lived in the US in the past), the current polarisation in American society is truly frightening.
@jmpattillo

That’s what I was worried about too! 😂
@engineer84-w8x

@@lisacrandall409 Yes, the American populace is being polarized, the word "woke" is, as far as I can tell, being used by genuine extremists in multiple industries to spread their derogatory agendas, and right in the middle of a cost of living crisis where many people simply cannot afford homes due to convoluted, systemic issues beyond what the average joe can comprehend, and I'm stuck in the middle of it all, unable to get out of it or do anything about it due to the lack of influence I have. I can also understand why you would be concerned about this from an outside perspective because 1, the US has a very large military and 2, a significant portion of the world economy goes through and takes place here, so if either the US goes to war, Wall Street crashes, or both, it's bad news for everyone on this godforsaken blue pebble.
Honestly my heart skipped a beat when the reveal came after slicing! What an epic pair WOW! Justin once again your knowledge and expertise shines through!

If there is one thing that I've learned from watching you, Justin, it is that every opal is a gamble. Even the most straightforward looking stone could turn out tragic. As you are fond of saying: "You just never know." You're like the Bob Ross of Black Opal. 😉 Only you're WAY funnier! You have built up an intuitive knowledge. That is apparent. Thank you for sharing this with us. God bless you and all there at Black Opal Dire🎉ct.
Spectacular. That's the blackest black in those opals. Really makes the blues, greens, and purples pop.
Haven't visited your channel for a long time. What a transformation from a backyard operation to a professional set up with editing, production and great music. You are way on the way to 1 million subscribers. Congrats

Goodness! 😮 I've seen pairs, I've never seen TWINS. This opal was so blessed to find it's way into your hands. The opportunity these beauties could be cut was laid down a loooooong time ago and it came to you to make sure the job was done right. Fantastic work, Justin!
When you revealed your cut it instantly made me think of a set of church stained glass windows. Cracking job mate, don't ever stop

I don't think you meant to write "revile"? "Revile (v) criticize in an abusive or angrily insulting manner. "he was now reviled by the party that he had helped to lead"" The misspeller that has inhabited your keyboard is hereby "revealed", and must therefore move on to someone else that has to write something important quickly, and will be more easily embarrassed 😊
What a terrific pair of earrings!
That is the most crisp pattern I've ever seen, so many big distinct pieces floating in the darker color.
Justin... Yesterday was father's day here in the states. So Happy Father's Day to you!! You're a good son and a great dad. You're dad would no doubt be very proud of you. Awesome video!! Wow!!😳 it’s like looking into another dimension, the colour and patterns are out of this world.🙂
I had butterflies waiting for you to show the inside of that opal!!!! 🤯🥳
They turned out amazing!!! You are a very gifted storyteller. Thank you Justin, please don't ever stop!!! You bring so much joy to people. ❤ Thank you😊
My grandfather taught me. I dont have any kids to teach but I hope that I might be able to teach one of my nieces or nephews someday.
You've always had a knack for making high quality videos with music and speaking but wow you can really tell you've gotten even better over the years. This one had to take awhile shooting and editing and it really turned out great! These would look great as earrings. I don't know what the pattern would be called, but I really like it. It reminds me of my time in the military, almost like camouflage (if it was only patterned like the elusive checkerboard). 😁

I have seen this done with black walnut wood on hundred year old furniture. Split down the middle and open into mirrored pieces for accents. Drawer front inserts, pedestal and post trims on the edge of the box with doors between, so many ways but so beautiful. This is the first I have seen in gems like this but just as awesome for mirrored pair. Flying high there Justin!!!

Far out those opals are outrageous. So perfect. The patterns on them make them look like a pair of butterfly wings. Mate, if I only had $8000! I reckon your Dad was there to share it with you. When you think of him, I reckon it connects you to his spirit or energy. Sounds whack, I know, and I know a lot of people think the idea of an afterlife is a thing we made up to make ourselves feel better. But I still believe it anyway. I reckon your Dad would be pretty darn happy and proud of what you did with that stone!
