The Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Ashram at Rishikesh is now called the Chaurasi Kutia Ashram and is a 5 minute drive from the Ram Jhoola. For those who grew up in the sixties and loved the Beatles, this place conjures up great nostalgic expectations. Unfortunately, the site is presently completely deserted, there are abandoned ruins, and not a soul to tell us anything about its history. It is now a part of the Rajaji Tiger Reserve and the fact that the rooms and the pathways were swept and clean were indicative that some sort of upkeep was indeed being done A steep entry fee ensures that even ghosts keep away. The kutia (chalet), probably the one which The Beatles used, is marked. The only other interesting place is a room - probably a meditation room, with graffiti on all the walls. It is a large estate, with lots of greenery but is a little scary if you are alone.

India is also known for Yoga and meditation, like Kriya yoga, swar yoga, dhyan, sadhna etc. So many biography and autobiography are related to Indians saints and guru.
