At the start of the game, after Bones wakes you up, go straight to the Isle of Theves and grab Freddie's Shackles artefact, you'll gain 10% extra XP throughout the game which helps a lot maxing out your skills/stats. Man... nostalgia kicked in hard, back when I could afford to spend countless hours in this game.

I really like the Risen series. Gothic 2 is my all time favourite of Piranha Bytes but in my opinion the pirate setting is awesome and I would like to see more of those sunny beaches and jungles.

Love that you review all kinds of gsmes, from retro to modern, from shooters to crpgs

World needs to know about such OG rpg series like Gothic and Risen. Very fucking underrated games if u ask me.

Ah, Risen 3. The game i preordered the collectors edition, it arrived right around my birthday and i was SO hyped. Then proceeded to not play it for two years because i have this obsession to always play series from start to finish, and while i completed a playthrough of risen 2, it put me off too much to 100% it. Then finally i decided to replay risen 2 and to finally tackle risen 3, and oh boy did i have a lot of fun. Risen 2 was more fun the second time and risen 3 was really fun from the get-go. Definitely the easiest game of piranha bytes but with maxing out everything, still scratched the itch of powergaming for me. First thought after i finished it was "best piranha bytes game", although in retrospect it definitely is missing some of the starting out weak part. Also in the meantime i've played some of the gothic 2 total conversions, and archolos in particular really made me appreciate the more archaic version of 2000 melee where you're not playing an acrobat and dodging is either stepping back or manually strafing. But risen 3 is definitely a great game, to some degree a better risen 1.

The German voice actor for the Risen 1 and 2 protagonist fell ill after the release of Risen 2 and died soon after Risen 3 I believe. I think that that might be part of the reason for the choice of a new main character. EDIT: The protagonist of Risen 1 and 2 you meet in Risen 3 had a different voice actor (in German at least) than the original.

@@0_Nycke I don't think he has a name. You find him on the island of the demon hunters after you've made it to the second half of the island I think. He is close to a beach, sitting next to a campfire.

I enjoy the combat in this game. Especially if you do not have a follower. Playing solo without a follower drastically changes the difficulty. Makes melee much more punishing.when all enemies are after only you then you are put to the test.

It's a rather long game, but I'd be curious what you think of the Dungeon Siege series. The first (including legend of arana) is quite different from the second. These risen games remind me, kind of, of those games and if you liked these, I think you'd like them also. The first Dungeon Siege is the reason I like fantasy games and books.

Im addicted to their games...i remember trying them 4 years ago absolutely hating them,but gothic 3 got me into them and now im coming back to all of them

Man this was my first ever rpg game that i played So it is special to me

I think its the *least* janky game they ever made. It's a solid experience. I can even say its the most solid in terms of mechanics and overall performance game they ever made and even though I love both Elex 1 and 2, I was dissapointed how janky they were. At the time I thought that Risen 3 was some kind of a turning point for them and from that game onward they will get closer and closer to a proper polished AA game. Oh, and if someone like me would want to replay the game after watching this video on a ultrawide screen, get ready to some mean voodooing trying to run this game with a proper aspect ratio.

Uff finally Risen trilogy done, whats next Mortismal?

This game was waiting for me in my library since the release on PS4 and I platinum it only last month (after I platinum-ed the recent Risen on PS4). If you compare it to Risen 1 it is such a strange game (basically Risen 2-2) but I liked it, except the stupid final boss (Hard difficulty). Now I hope Risen 2 will also come to PS4, because I finished in only on Xbox360.

The only Piranha Bytes game I've played was Gothic 3, it was ok..I would like to know Mortim if I try one more PB game what would you recommend, one of the Risen games or maybe one of the Elex games..

Elex 1 was my personal favorite

Didn't have any problems with achievements trackers in risen 1, played it recently (did have glich with 100 locks one, steam registered it after aprox 20 seconds), can confirm major tracking problems with risen 2 though. Also i believe first one is better gothic style game.

Does anyone know if there is even a way to get armor from all factions in risen 3? Some kind of mod or other way? And is there any modification that would allow you to get the appearance of the Inquisition armor?

Mechanically, I'd say Elex 2 is more approachable, but on the other hand, I feel like the characters are more poorly written (or at least less memorable) than in Gothic.

Risen is my favorite rpg of all time on par with pillars of eternity. Their worlds are so unique for me❤ I do love all 3 risen games third one being the easiest

Is it just me or does the game look way better than Elex at times?

I'm pretty sure the reason the game doesn't provide a satisfying conclusion to the series is because it's not supposed to be the final game of the series (even if now it looks like it might turn out to be). The conversation with the previous protagonist seems to foreshadow the sequel to me.

Really like Crystal magic in this game. Melee version let you become Avartar. Fire rain let you kill anything by using it and just run around.

I remember coming back later only to drop in tutorial due to random dashing enemies. Quite annoying tbh...

I loved this game but I got a gamebreaking bug 30 hours in and couldn't play anymore. I didn't want to start over so I dropped it unfortunately

Risen 3 is not a bad game. Probably the worst aspect of the game is the fact that is too much easy than other PB games, expecially if we compare Risen 3 with Elex that is more difficutly and from my point of view is overall better, even if i prefer the magic system of Risen 3 than the one that we get in Elex.

it would be cool if you stremed while you played when you uploaded the review on youtube that will defiantly make you grow a lot more.

its like risen 2.5 or 1.5 as it would fit between risen 1 and 2

i only play thiao game before because it's relaxing

I beat it last month. Loved it but I couldn't imagine trying to 100% it. It took me 120 hours just to beat it with average side questing

Even the hardest difficulty wasn't that hard. And here, in comparison to Risen 2, you didn't have to lower down the difficulty when playing the mini-games (shooting bottles etc.)

Bought this when it launched on Steam and didn't get very far for whatever reason. Decided to give it another go after watching this review but the game is crashing constantly.

2 is a good game on it's own, but it is a bad sequel to Risen 1 if that makes sense

I'm sorry but I have a hard time taking any "voodoo pirate" seriously because of Monkey island :D This title seems like a good entry point into PB games if it's easier, the PC is a new guy even if it's the 3rd entry, and the visuals look better than I thought from this studio. Maybe the ending is less underwhelming if you haven't played the others too

Although they have never had good stories, all the writing talent seems gone. They should invest in more storywriting talent or adepting a literary source. Risen 3 and Elex 2 are their weakest titles imho.

You should really play Archolos. It is not a mod. It is a game and imo it is better then the first 2 gothics
