They are eventually captured by Krang One, but Leo reaches out to Raph and helps him break free from his corruption, before Leo is captured too. About to become corrupted, Leo called out to Mikey and Donnie that Raph is struggling for their sake so they are to struggle for his sake in turn. Soon, they begin to glow. focusing all their love and strength and the brothers manage to get free and got their Hamato Ninpō back.

Throughout the show, the turtles wanted to be like everyone else. But in this moment they realize that they will never be like everyone else and embrace it.

spoilers in here for if you haven't watched the series!! basically, splinter aka hamato yoshi comes from a long line of mystic warriors who were trained to fight the shredder when he came back, the turtles got their mystic powers (ninpo) from those ancestors.

If only the rest of the series had this much presence and symbolism for its roots maybe it wouldn't have sank into the abyss of obscurity and become something that could've lasted longer in the minds of fans.

I wouldn't say that, the 2012 TV series was just as good as the 2018 series. It's surprising how it didn't get a film to properly end the series.
