Lol nice. It was super exciting after playing Nioh 2 and hearing this announcement. It looked like Team Ninjas response to Elden Ring, open world Nioh. But then Wo Long came by the same group, and was like Chinese lore Nioh. So it made me question how much Ronin will be like Nioh. Combat looks the same, I just hope it's as brutal and fun. Dragons Dogma though...been waiting for that sequel a LONG time. The first game was a sleeper hit, that I bought on a whim cuz the box looked cool lol. Still one of my all time fav.

I know it’s not the same developer but I’m hoping it’s similar to Ghost of Tsushima. That was an absolutely amazing game and surely a lot of us have been hoping for a sequel.

​@@humbleservant7797I would say that's backwards, given the simplified combat of Ronin. NG was relatively simplistic combat (one button did most of the work), focused more on timing than anything else, and was very challenging due mostly to situations you'd find yourself in. It was difficult for the combat to "click", but easy to master once it did. But you also had to consider stealth, how to tackle mission objectives, how to approach certain enemies, etc. Nioh, especially Nioh 2, is very very complex combat, that's relatively easy to get a grasp on the basics, but the skill ceiling is nigh unending if you wanted to dig in. The Rpg mechanics and build making garnered more attention though, and could bypass mastery of the combat. Without the rpg mechanics to get in the way though, it was the deepest action combat ever. Although Nioh only has its combat and the rpg mechanics, no climbing/grappling/jumping, etc Ronin is more like the former. Combat revolves on one button mostly, and simplistic but has a bit of depth. Many ways to approach missions. Differing objectives, etc. Of the 2 games Nioh was miles better in pure combat, but NG was more of a total package, with combat being just one piece of it. The comparison to NG is accurate

Same. I'm older and don't have the twitch reflexes like I used to. I'm currently playing Tsushima on medium diff and it's been enjoyable. I glad they decided to give players the option. Can't wait to jump into this. Pre ordering this and Dogma 2 lol

It's Team Ninja / Koei, they usually add increased health and damage for their difficulty adjustment. This is probably closer to Nioh 3 with some open world elements and they're not very good with open world given how bad Dynasty Warriors 9 was.

@davidd.6448 and here I sit...dead in the center... However I don't think that that quite sums it up. I've never liked DnD, at all. Until BG3 I refused to play anything turn based lol, but that game kind of made it fun and the story/choices picked up any slack for me personally. Other than that: nah. So I def don't think Dragons Dogma is anything like DnD other than the fact that its medieval fantasy setting, and dragons lol. It's far more like inquisition was, but I actually (almost) liked Dragons Dogma 1 a little more: the pawn system was super cool, and being able to borrow other people's custom pawns was pretty awesome. It was like playing a really well written MMORPG, but without all the pesky other people. I'm Def doing that over Ronin, but its such a close second that it SUCKS they're the same day. I hate when I feel like I'm missing out by playing one over the other and I want BOTH of the companies to have strong numbers so that they'll be maintained well and new ones will get made. Dogma was such a sleeper hit, it took SO long to get a sequel. If you don't count Dogma Online, which was only in Japan (or with a VPN). The difference with Ronin is yea, I'm sure the weebs will be playing it, but I think far more of the Dark Souls fans will be playing it, especially if they sunk their teeth into Nioh which arguably is the best Soulslike to ever do it. Ronin has all the same shit, just open world. So it's been talked about as Nioh's Elden Ring. Nioh 2 was insanely good. So I think there is a bit broader of a fan base for each, and there is a lot of overlap in soulslike fans especially specifically dark souls fans because of the medieval fantasy setting in the first place. Well see. Just shitty they are same day.

@@rickypen for me it's a no brainer since I much prefer close combat action games like Sekiro to any fantasy RPG including Dark Souls or Elden Ring. Plus from what I hear DD2 performance on consoles seems lackluster so I'll probably get it when it's on sale on Steam.

@davidd.6448 iirc the first game was only console at first, so im hopeful they have it sorted well enough. I actually dont care as much about graphical performance, im sure itll be meh on console but after the last 4 years of med school just living at a PC/laptop, i want games to be: chill on the couch time. I loved Nioh2>1 but I'm kind of ronin-samurai-ninja'd out atm and been waiting SO long for DD2. I got online to work a couple times with a VPN but it was terrible lol. Just was nice to see the art style and game world again. I totally understand not liking the medieval fantasy setting lol, mostly because I personally HATED it until I was in my 30s lol I just thought it was SO nerdy lol. RPG games in general I just didn't see the appeal. But then I Fallout 3 changed my view of RPGs, wanted more so I gave in and played Oblivion...and it was over after that...10 yrs of ESO, all the souls games. Honestly like bloodborne the least out of all of them. It was good gameplay and def felt like fromsoft, I just LOVE finding dope new armors and weapons and exploiting the SHIT out of the game math lol. I'll def be getting both, and I'm sure Ronin is gonna be amazing. I'm just stunned they decided to release same day, let alone same month.

This game looks amazing and I hope that it makes its own shine and not from behind dragons dogma 2

finishing DD2 will be priority over this game.

This look liiiit,first off Ghost was grounded more in reality even though it also had fantasy mythical elements,but this combat exploits that on another level cant compare the two IMO,especially in the combat portion,just my opinion though

Ghost does not actually have any fantasy elements other then the online mode. The game gives you the illusion of fantasy but not actually the case.

I was gunna get Dragons Dogma 2 first then eventually play this but now I think this may be first considering DD2 is looking like is having issues on console hittting a steady 30 fps 😢

I really hope they don't force you to play co-op by making some trophies only earnable in co-op

Team ninja has always had a solid endgame so those metrics never really suited and since it’s open world that number really might balloon I have over 1000hrs in nioh2 I’m sure I spent atleast 2hrs on the first mission alone my first run.

Buying this over dragons dogma 2 , I just have a feeling this game is way more exciting and fun , will get DD2 too but not right away

@5:44 Honestly, 4 player co-op is great as beforehand I'm sure they only had 2 - 3 max players. Their online website articulates the co-op feature in a way that makes it seem you're confined to playing the story missions only, and aren't able to explore the open world in co-op; I honestly hope this is not the case, but won't hold my breath because things are often too good to be true. However, it's interesting due to the player count being increased to 4 players rather than the typical 2 - 3 players it would have at max for cooperative play. Though, this could be perhaps because there is no pvp for the game that they decided to add another cooperator.

I'm pretty set on the idea that it's going to be confined to the story missions, lacking in open world exploration while in co-op. The wording on their webpage was even recently changed to ensure it no longer implied that it was going to be a total of 4 players, articulating itself to better say the max player count will be three. With that tweak, the "to experience the game's story missions" detail was not altered either. That being said, I'm pretty sure it's confined to the story missions only, although I wish it weren't.

People need to stop saying this looks like ghost of Tsushima. It doesn’t at all lol. This is a nioh/wo long reskin that’s open world. Not that that’s a bad thing

The fact you can shoot an enemy in the face three times and it still comes at you full speed is also pretty crazy. I love the art style and the setting, but I’ve got a bit of bad feeling about this one. Might pick it up later at a discount.

They've literally had 5 main showings in this year. The PS State of Play which gave the release date....the story trailer.....and 3 dev diaries that have covered Story, combat and co-op which is where this video gets all this footage from. There is another dev diary planned for this week as well so that makes 6 if you want to count that. You may be concerned but I am sold.....PREORDERED!

I know that I am interested in the game and I want to play it on day 1 so it doesn't matter if I preorder now or wait until the day of release, the only way I am gonna know if I like the game is to buy it and play it for myself." I don't say this as a jab against you or any core (regular) gamer.....I say this because there is a difference in mindset when it comes to gaming that the core gaming market doesn't understand about hardcore gamers, we know that if it turns out that if it turns out that we like the game and the core market hates it, then at least we got our money worth, but if it turns out that we hate it and the core market loves it, none of ya'll are gonna give us our money back....so we buy what interest us and form our own opinion, and sometimes our view aligns with the mainstream and other times it does not.

D4 fooled me but Nioh 2 was way too good, it was my first team ninja game since doa and it took me 30 minutes to get past the first monster lol. Put 1100hrs in that gem and the whole time thinking their next game will definitely be open world. Instant no-brainer preorder for trusted developers.

@@dferas5535 It's definitely true. Trailers show it has an 18 rating and show the "Blood and Gore, Language, Violence" certificate. Didn't get an 18 due to being child-friendly, quite simply.

This literally sekiro and Ghost of Tsushima mixed I'm definitely buying this game .

Correct me if im wrong by all means but Elden Ring and Ronin so far are the only two "Souls like Open World" games right? really damn cool Aside from that this game seems so damn fun! its got like bits and pieces of Sekiro, Ghost of Tsushima, Elden Ring, Dark Souls, Samurai Warriors, Nioh, and Ninja Gaiden all together, it looks really enjoyable, plus I GET AANGS GLIDER???

Nioh 2 is my favorite SOULSLIKE ever made, but I have to be honest here. For 7 years of developement some of this game looks really rough. Some of these animations are dated to say the least. I hope I'm wrong.

Might be fun but it looks like a 1st generation PS4-title to me. Unless there’s a cross-gen version we’re looking at here.

I’m sorry but that first minute already makes me disappointed the NPC walking while he’s riding a horse stutter and the 2 guys he fought looked like a old doom game enemy against the world background

It's a shame that this game really has done enough to showcase itself especially compared to Dragons Dogma. I think it'll still sell well, but will probably get blown out in sells by DD2.
