Love this game. It's my all-time favorite RTS. I've never found another game that approaches the breadth and complexity of this RTS while still being accessible. I've been playing for nearly 15 years and I am still learning about it! Keep this up great to see.

Exactly my situation too! I still have the disks. Base and the Expansion but steam makes it more convenient ofcourse.

I remember playing this game ages ago. Very similar to Age of Empires but with a much wider scope in relation to economy and research etc. Great cast!

BTW change the detail in the bottom right to player scores - it also shows territory control and other useful info. It's also good to show what the game looks like with the fog of war turned on and make people aware that you're turning it off or it may be misleading..

Great game, have played and enjoyed it long time ago. Continue casting it if possible :) and other old and good games aswell. Maybe Blitzkrieg? Didn't find any interesting videos of it.

Ah... the classic, loved RoN.

I guess I remember the players. Shine might be Showtime or Redbull who's the topmost active player. I maybe wrong but he played like that.

Rise of Nations is awesome! Bring back fond memories. Please cast more! It'll be even better once you know the game better! Let me know if you need an opponent sometime!

A video or two explaining the game would be nice, so we all have a bit of an understanding what it is you're talking about! - I would watch more casts of RON too! - Especially if you find replays where games go through the ages up to Nukes or something. (As someone else in the comments mentioned nukes it got me interested)

Yeah good idea. I'm actually surprised and glad how well Rise of Nations has been received! There was a time when I would post anything other then Zero Hour and everyone would get super butthurt and leave flame/dislikes. If people are keen I'll do something like that and more content for sure. The only problem is, it's really tricky to cast. RoN is quite slow and unexciting due to it's predictability and lack of finesse micro. (Apart from mad dog Cavalry Flanks.)

Greek player handled Mongols opening rush well. Mongol player had to reassess and either all in or try to keep up with Greek's economy. But the Greek player was out pacing him with economy/tech with that fourth city. The longer the game went on the further the Greek player got ahead.

I fucking love this game it's so balanced

Buy Rise of Nations HD on Steam. It's the Gold Edition remastered in HD with Online Multiplayer and extra functionality and features. It's $20 AUD or your regional equivalent (Probably less because Australia gets price gouged hardcore) so it's great value.

Just look it up on Steam. The Enhanced edition features several new benefits, one of which being working online multiplayer.

Interesting would have thought GG would find it campy. The territories and attrition damage really encourage turtle-ing. fun though.

Not at all. Attrition is necessarily to balance out Cavalry harassment. There still is a lot of action with Cavalry harassment with Despot for Supply. RoN isn't as active and aggressive as something like ZH or Coh2, but it makes up for it with the compelling economy.

i wish for Rise of Legends... :(

You can buy the HD remaster on Steam and use the inbuilt Multiplayer lobbies.

+TRN.Pro Troller it is super complicated though especially the attrition past the borders bit, never made sense to me. That's just one point. I prefer Empire Earth over this.
