Rise of flight was great!

I think you have to fire a little ahead of where they are, it's called leading them. If you fire directly at them by the time the bullets get there the target has moved ahead. Most of your bullets are probably going just behind the target. Almost at the end you finally hit an engine and set it on fire.

I believe the standard tactic for attacking bombers in WWI was from below and behind. This kept you out of the arc of fire for the bombers gunners and allows for sustained fire from you. The other method was repeated zoom and climb attacks, but this allowed for only short bursts of fire. I was surprised it took so long for the bombers gunners to get you. I assume you took engine damage which forced you to land. But, otherwise the old bombers were tough birds for a single fighter to kill.

He bumped the bomber at the end. That’s why the propeller blades are broken off. He killed the top gunner on both bombers

Hey nirvi what's the bets strategy for taking down a bomber?

Try your attack from behind and low thus avoiding the top gunner. Use your rudder and sweep the underside fuselage and wings.

I didn't even realize you didn't have much of a propeller left until you had landed! Was it still giving power or were you gliding? Or was it that bit of oil/blood splatter on the screen at the end, so you weren't coasting for long?.

+Skraith It looks like the prop collided with the bombers wing at 12:45, severely damaging the wing but also taking the prop off and hurting the pilot (the blood/oil splatter). You can hear the engine immediately stop and you can no longer see the prop circle.

@@TheParadoxVg That is oil. It's the same splatter effect as when your engine gets shot. Blood in Rise of flight is more of a red color and is usually accompanied by red tint around the edge of the screen and a tinnitus wine.

I want a pc ! There are so many awesome airplane and fighter pilot sims , I wish he had some of those on consoles ! I know that’s not what they specialize in . But I wish we had just had some ! One of the best gaming experiences I had was ace combat 7 in psvr ! I loved it so much !

Check your difficulty setting, you might have your damage or particle difficult off or some-sort of. If not, it might otherwise be somewhere in the game settings.

I think this whole sequence was amazing!! But now I’m curious… In real life, would the pilot even be credited for this kill? Perhaps only if a wingman saw him shoot it, or the crash could be found by allies in the approximate area in the pilots report?

skintrade Still have pistols, they are equipped in the hangar, just before a mission. Look for the hanger button next to the mission button

you're a pretty good shot , i tried to take out the top gunner but i learned a rough lesson and now i just make passes for left to right and from high above to take down the engines....

Why didn't you maneuver underneath the tail of the bomber, and rake it with gunfire? Or add the optional Lewis guns, and you could have destroyed each bomber in one pass, instead of making these high angle passes, which you only have the bomber in your sights for a few seconds at a time.

I don't recall seeing bombers like this, does Rise of Flight still add new aircraft? And what are these bombers called? I only know of one 4 engine bomber in the whole war and it was Russian.

Yes they are still adding new aircraft. And you are right, the bombers in the video are russian Sikorsky Ilya Muromets.

+Eduard Walter The Sopwith Dolphin, one of my favorite World War 1 planes. Some pilots would mount 2 extra machine guns to the wings and you could also mount and additional 2 guns on the bars in the cockpit for a total of 6 machine guns!

Way to keep firing on the bomber at the end after all four engines were clearly not running

Are you serious? In most of those passes you're shooting from over 100 yards - in real life, with your airframe being buffeted by wind and the engine, and the huge impact all that would have on shooting accuracy, you'd be lucky to hit them at all from that range. Von Richthofen routinely closed to 50 yards before he even started firing, and even he sometimes expended all his ammo before he could get a victory. Rise of Flight looks pretty, and it's nice if all you want is an arcade game based on WW1 air combat, but the laughably overmodeled bullet effectiveness and the laughably undermodeled structural strength of all the aircraft makes it a joke as a simulation.

You can put all of those settings on, with realistic physics and turbulence/wind setting, it's honestly one of the best simulator games I've played, very close to the real thing
