So glad I came across this video. '86 Topps was my first set as well. Little did I know I started collecting during the worst time...hahaha so much junk wax. I'm still hooked though. My worst trade ever...had a Cecil Fielder rookie and swapped it for something like an '87 Kevin Mitchell. Yikes. Thanks for the content!

As a Phillies fan who grew up in that era Lenny was one of my favorite players. I was lucky enough to get him to sign his rookie card for me back in the 90’s.

I love that you mentioned Bill Buckner because I love the picture they took for the card in this box. Buckner And Magee have the best pictures in this box in my opinion.

I started collecting in the year after and then desperately tried to get the 86 cards. We used to call them redbacks.. I just open two packs today and pull the Cecil Fielder and Lenny Dykstra rookie card. Along with a Rickey Henderson and Darryl Strawberry. Hope you have a great day I love watching you open your box❤

Throughly enjoyed your running commentary on these 1986 Topps players cards throughout the whole hour brother, revisiting a lot of great ball players from back in the day. I am 61 now and grew up here in KC and I knew by 1978 that Brett was going to the HOF eventually. Your channel is way cool and for sure brings back many memories of watching many of these baseball players from the mid 1970’s through the 1980’s. MLB and the game was definitely different in that era and then free agency started changing the game mid 70’s, also definitely agree with your thoughts on the HOF selection process is definitely messed up, anyway your knowledge of so many classic MLB players was great and it was fun to go through all those cards! I am subscribing to the channel!

@@classicwaxsportscards9440 Hello Classic, I really enjoyed the whole hour of your YT Channel show with the mid 1980’s unopened Topps cards. You have some interesting and funny moments for sure talking about many of the same ball players that I also used to watch growing up in that era. I couldn’t agree more with your thoughts about certain borderline players being voted into the HOF, over other ball players who imo are unfairly not being voted in the HOF. # 5 in Cincinnati was my first fave player I remember watching playing ball on the saturday mornings game of the week on tv when I was like 8 years old lol, the modern catcher who absolutely redefined that position in the 1970’s, from the old into the new. Also my favorite baseball team growing up in that era was the Athletics, back when the two divisions in each league was still the AL West/AL East and the same two divisions in the NL. Something about the inter divisional play being separate until the World Series just was something that I felt MLB shouldn’t have changed. I know baseball had to eventually evolve expand and change with the times, but still 🤔 oh well like Sammy Sosa said later in the 1990’s “baseball been very very good to me” lol 🤷🏼‍♂️

@classicwaxsportscards9440 Totally what you say about Pete Rose. I grew up an hour outside of Cincinnati playing little league & collecting cards in the 80s and Pete Rose was basically Babe Ruth in those parts. He’s his own worst enemy these days but DEFINITELY think he belongs in the hall. Btw, just discovered your Classic Wax product yesterday. Don’t really collect modern cards, stopped collecting around 1991 but I could not pass up trying out a box of premium classic wax baseball. Seems like it’ll be nothing but nostalgic goodness. CANT WAIT!

Nice! Thanks for your order, I’m sure you are going to really enjoy them! I grew up just outside of Philly in the 80’s and Pete was the missing link on our 1980 Phillies team that finally got over the hump and won the World Series… So I get what you mean about him being Babe Ruth.. he was very highly regarded around our parts as well.

@Classic Wax Sports Cards that's awesome! My first baseball game ever was Reds v Phillies when Pete came back to Cincinnati for the first time. Though a diehard Reds fan, always pulled for the Phillies and especially loved 83 when they added Morgan & Perez

So nostalgic, I'm still a Mets fan to this day. We went from being Cardinals fans to Mets fans when the Cardinals traded the greatest first baseman of all time, or at least our absolute favorite. Keith Hernandez isn't in the HOF either. The MLB HOF has no credibility whatsoever, it's all screwed up.

1985 Is John Franco's Rookie year.........Ted Simmons definitely belongs in the Hall Of Fame. Simmons hit .300+ seven times! Johnny Bench never hit .300+ in a full-season, never!....Didn't pull a Don Mattingly........

The pitch clock is definitely gonna take some time for me to get used to and I’m not sure how I’ll end up liking it but overall I’m hoping the rules will help bring the game more action. I got a little tired of the way it’s been lately with just home runs or strikeouts and walks.
