RIP TF2 Cheaters

Wait, did Valve actually fix TF2?
After another massive petition calling for action against the bots that have been plaguing every server in the game… they have now seemingly disappeared.
For the first time in a long time, you can now actually play the game. But did Valve actually listen to us? Will this fix actually last? And what does it mean for the rest of Valves games including Deadlock?

less about the money, more about finding people who want to tackle this issue. Would you rather spend your time fighting a non-stop war on bots or instead work on the next gen steam deck/cs/half-life whatever project that valve is cooking up? From what people have said at valve, the work culture is very much find a project that interests you and put all your effort towards it. There's very little incentive to do work like fighting hackers/botters which is grueling, unfulfilling, and thankless work.

@@CR0WYT they meant that newer software and hardware doesn't necessarily function properly with old games/content. new software/hardware simply is NOT being developed anymore with the TF2 engine in mind and that can result in performance issues if not outright an inability for the game to even run. its honestly part of the reason why so many of the recent remakes of games can be so awful.(SW Battlefront 1 for example) the old game engines simply are not compatible in many ways with newer PCs/consoles.

Valve hires industry veterans and people who worked on major projects. None of those people would want or be put to do entry level work like moderating/banning bots 24/7. This is probably some temporary intern or someone drew the short match after that Scout cosplayer was loitering around their offices a few weeks ago and they do this as a temporary solution so people can stop bothering them. Expect bots to come back like they did last time.

This botting issue doesn't only exist in Valve games, it exists in World of Warcraft very rampantly right now as well in both Dragonflight and Cataclysm Classic. Botting seems to have had a severe rise. Due to it's extremely lucrative nature in itself, it's the smartest way for these scripters, hackers, and cheaters, to bot for Stats, Money, Fame, Etc.

I am hoping, that they aren't working on game centric fix, but on fix which is in their user base. Bot accounts have to have steam accounts, and usually accounts that are botting, are doing only that, botting. I hope they are building algorythm or AI system, which detects bot users no matter the game. Such a fix would pretty much save all the steam centric multiplayer games and it would shut anyone up who is whining that steam is anticompetitive and anticonsumer.

Probably can think it as they secretly implemented some mechanisms into the code or collecting data to detect bot and ban it afterwards, the fact is once the mechanisms been understood by the scripter they will create a new cheating or scripting tool to bypass it. It is better for valve not stating too much on their works, as player I only care they have did something not how they do their job

Gamers need to finally realize that the only way to consistently force change is by making monetary statements. As long as a company is making money and can project to still be making money in the future, they have little to no incentive to do anything. Banking on the goodwill of a company is not something you should accustom yourself to.

@jjb273 you don't know what you're talking about and you are in the minority. This game has been out for 12 years and they ignore the cheating problem and never addressed it. And for your information, Valve makes $50 million each month from CS alone and they can't fix the cheating problem. Your defending a company that doesn't give a ahit about its players.

We always talk about the devs neglecting us, and that they need to step up the game. No. We as consumers need to step up the game. IF we want to dip our feet in a jacuzzi, WHY do we always settle for it if theres only a portable toilet available? If you want to smell like perfume, why do you smear yourself in with shit? If you dont want to feel pain, why tf do you get your supposed friend to repeatedly kick you in the nuts? We as a playerbase need to uninstall a game that we dont like. We need to show that, if they as a developer, dont care, neither do we. The way we still keep installing, still keep recruiting new players, still buy skins, still buy this, still buy that, only shows the devs that "Yes, we can HEAR them say its all bad, but we can SEE them return to play every day". The only way for the industry to start changing IS IF WE CHANGE FIRST. And that shouldnt be hard to understand. Do you think a revolution starts from within the government itself? No! It starts with the regular people who clearly shows enough is enough.
