I know for myself I didn't buy the game because every time I hear about a live service overarching narrative they never actually seem to see it through til the end. I wonder how many others fall into the same camp. This also makes me question how well it would've done if avengers never released and made everyone wary of the concept

Brainiac brainwashing the JL and the suicide squad having to to save the world from them is an interesting idea but the execution was horrible. The only thing worse than this game is the fact we’ll never know how the story would’ve ended. But since the game was so bad, I’d say the ending was planned to be “ the fan theory of BRAINIAC cloning the JL is true, the real justice league returns and Wonder Woman comes back to life or the flash is the only survivor at least and Barry goes back in time to prevent Clark’s dumb butt from trying to be friends with Brainiac so they never get captured and Brainic is defeated

Games that are cancelled within a year of release should automatically refund players their money. I don't care if I've had my 50 hours or 100 hours of fun. I paid for a game that I can play whenever I want for the next 5 or 6 years. Games are way too expensive to buy for 30 hours and to be told by the developer that they're just cancelling it. Somebody needs to sue the crap out of them.

This is why you should always be selective and hesitant to pay for live service games. It's only as playable for as long as they're willing to support it. They're inherently disposable.

That would be Sefton Hill and Jamie Walker, the founders of Rocksteady. They quit the studio and started their own before Suicide Squad came out

No they shouldn't. This is what happens when you purchase live service games. It's only playable for as long as there's server support. Inherent in the concept of live service games is that they'll eventually be defunct, and considering how oversaturated the market is, most of them won't be around for too long.

Yeah that's insane. The fact they didn't stand up for their former team while they were getting attacked is crazy too

The gameplay was hyper- repetitive. The narrative disrespectful to the dc heroes (albeit on purpose cuz the bad guys are the protagonists here), gamers wanted to play as the league not fight them and that sweet baby activism was apparent throughout. It was just the perfect storm of bad for this game. DC needs some great single-player adventure games. As far as live service goes the need to release. Episodic content like a good 10hr episode once every 2-3 quarters to keep the game going. Full length episodes would cut down time between game releases as well as cut development time while still giving players new content and pushing the story forward. Customization of Super suits is a must as well.

Atleast Avengers characters actually feels different when playing . If they actually tried with characters we would have gotten deadshot with the only person using guns , Harley Quinn using her bat and her wacky clown toys , Cpt boomerang with different variations of boomerang , king shark hulking it out etc would have been SO MUCH better than shooting everything

Marvel and DC know its many of us who will play whatever because we love the IP. So a polished looking superhero game will always make money just based off the surface look.

Yeah, this is kinda what I was concerned about, even if you believe that the clone theory would fix the game's story, the odds of the game getting far enough to confirm it seemed unlikely for some time.

Haven’t played the game since last update. 100% 3 play throughs and hope we get a higher difficulty with this dlc update. The replay value sucks aside from swinging around the open world

What’s sad is that I wanted this game to succeed and it could have if they’d done it right. Greed I tell you. I wanted Deathstroke man, I’m a *HUGE* Deathstroke fan but I’m worried they would have ruined him.

Game being live-service is the least of its problems. I wouldn't trust Ricksteady to tie up my shoes after this and Githam Knights.

Then entire situation of this game was literally development hell. The ppl that were working on the game itself, didn’t even like the route the game was going. Like they originally planned for the game to be highly be melee focused, but their bs higher ups wanted to make the game focused on gun play. Gameplay is fun, but the story just don’t make sense. The only thing that did, was the scenes when the heroes killed you after failing a boss fight💀

I loved anthem but didn’t play it much, idk y , it’s so beautiful for having come out years ago

This games mechanics pissed me off. Getting around the city is actually fun to me, but getting into fights destroys it.

I know there’s many downfall reasons of Suicide Squad, me personally I think not having an offline mode for this game killed it, don’t know why they made online only for Suicide Squad

Rocksteady did say that they wanted to try to make a multiplayer game. I believe they said that before announcing SSKTJL. So they tried, and I can't blame them. Sucks that the game flopped, I just hope they go back to making great single-player games like the arkham series.

I felt like avengers was actually a better game combat wise. I think everyone having guns was what turned me off. The screen moved too fast and felt like a shooter.

The Mrs freeze dlc, is a lobotomy inducing idea, who ever green lit to use a grizzly dikey Mrs freeze is on par of their course. In my personal opinion the fandom of DC comics wanting games should just show everyone we're serious, band together and flat out say we aren't buying your things until you either listen to us about what we want or just drop the projects as a whole and stop ruining our favorite characters.

because nobody cares for Villain vs Hero games Give us a flash game or superman game really anyone from the initial JL fighting their respective rogue gallery. But those game developers don't care about what the Fans actually want they produce what THEY THINK we would like and 10/10 it flops.

Perfect argument against not just pre-orders but buying season passes, as well.

It’s sad because regardless of its controversy, there was clearly a lot of work put into it. Graphically it’s quite impressive, and the performances are pretty good too. And now because of the hate train and lack of live-service experience on the leaders’ behalf all those people have the years of work flushed down the drain and it’ll be a stain on their resumes for years to come.

None of you should be getting your hopes up over a rocksteady game since most of the creators from the original Batman series are gone

This game entire development was intentionally made with malicious compliance since it’s leadership was against returning to Making any Superhero games yet alone Live Service One’s at that. So the financial losses would force the executives to push out the CEO’s who wanted nothing to do with Superhero games anymore.. They intentionally threw millions of dollars away just to force their higher ups into letting them go *WITH THE SEVERANCE* required to startup a new dev studio completely independent from WB..

Rocksteady confirmed it was thier idea to make a live service game, not WB

It was actually Sefton Hill idea to make it a live service game. Because there were an original suicide squad game made by WB moneral (sorry I can’t spell it). And it was supposed to be set in the Arkham verse and a sequel to Arkham origins. However he saw an opportunity to “evolve” the game. However some of the members knows it won’t go well like why take Captain Boomerang using his iconic weapon and switch it to guns? While you were right it Rocksteady idea but it was actually the ex founder of Rocksteady before they left.

I feel like if they had put more time into Gotham Knights they could have made a good super hero co-op game. If the end game unlocks and crafting system wasn't so bad I'd still be playing that. Suicide Squad just looks like a skinned third person shooter.

I love the game personally but the lack of content and the repetitive gameplay to get the scarecrow stuff and the upgrade system is bothersome

The game mighta done better had the two OG devs actually stayed to finish the game. Not saying it would have been great but it might have been better. Better than absolute trash. Maybe a little above that.

Honestly, I don't know how much I believe this. I'm sure the individual facts are all true, but it doesn't paint a full picture. It sounds a little fishy that, after leading a company through three excellent games, suddenly Jaime Walker and Sefton Hill are incompetent morons with terrible ideas? That doesn't quite add up on its own. Did the Arkham games manage to be brilliant and groundbreaking despite these two? Did they lose their mojo, or start believing their own legend, that they could do no wrong? I guess all that is possible, but it seems less plausible than the theory that the senior management that shepherded the DCEU through to the Snydercut also mismanaged Rocksteady into the ground. Of course, we're forming theories from the cheap seats. But this Jason Shreier's story doesn't quite add up. It leaves me to wonder who he talked to, and whether he was actually getting candid interviews. It seems absurd to theorize that all two dozen people he spoke with were part of some kind of corporate conspiracy.
